UN-JASH (アンジャッシュ) has been a favorite for quite a while. So when I found this, I was literally ROFLing. Anyway, like I said before, I've had this for a while ('07 I think?) and it was actually my second attempt at using Aegisub to subtitle. Cleaned it up and made it somewhat presentable. Raw is crappy (please excuse the Korean subs) and out of sync in some places so sorry for that.

From the 2005.09.03 "God of Entertainment" show, Kojima Kazuya and Watabe Ken share an interesting conversation about Miki-sama.

Aloha,

Apologies for the lack of posts. I've been on hiatus to allow myself some time to recover...mainly from a torn MCL but also from my favorites (Ai-chan, Yuuka, Aya) leaving. If Airi-chama leaves I think I'll officially keel over.

Oh, and I'll have a little something ready by the end of the week. I've had it subbed for a while now, but I've been looking in vain for a better quality rip. Nothing's shown up so I'll have to go with what I got. Hoping to get it somewhat presentable soon.

#1 - Ima kara monomane shimasu! (I'm gonna do a impersonation now)

Ai-chan: Hell no!

Gaki-san next asks for Sakana-kun. Not bad really. Finally, Gaki-san requests Crayon Shin-chan ala Reina. First time around wasn't really Ai-chan-ish so once more...

Gaki-san says it was terrible.

#5 - Ima kara hayakuchibakotoba (Will now do tounge-twister)

First one she does so well that Gaki-san's surprised at the confidence. Second one she does well until the very end. Third one, she messes up pretty bad but was pretty cute doing it. Gaki-san then says she has a favorite. It's actually on the DVD Magazine, which she then plays the clip. Funny stuff.

Message for Ai-chan!
A "Takahashi Ai-chan is this kind of person!" message from dance instructor Natsu-sensei!

Nothing new to write about really. Ai-chan's been around for the longest time so the staff really feel like she's family. When learning new dances, Ai-chan's usually the slowest to learn; however, when she does finally learn it, she's determined to do it the best she can. Please keep that mindset when she pursues other interests. Good luck with everything Ai-chan!

Thirty-eighth and final show. Hope you guys enjoyed them and found out some of the little things about the members that only radio shows can bring. I tried my best to get everything as accurate as possible and to bring out some of the funnier conversations. Definitely a more interesting Ai-chan when she's on the radio. Gaki-san doesn't have any pets as of now. As something she can have, Gaki-san would like a hamster or bird. As something she can't have, she'd like a penguin. Ai-chan likes them toy poodles (Ouji) but she's afraid it'd get too hot in Hawaii. Gaki-san suggests a capybara. Lately, Ai-chan's been liking cats but needs a bigger place to keep one. She likes that she wouldn't really have to take it out for walks or really take care of it.

Dice Talk

#1 - BANDO-kumi ni ha nani tantou [vocal igai] (If I was in a band, I'd do this [not vocals])

Gaki-san: Ya, it is. I'd like to try the drums I guess...
Gaki-san: But if I had to think about it...maybe the electric organ or something like the piano...or bang on something like "BAM-BAM-BAM!"

Girls playing any instruments are great. They both think ZONE is really cool.

#3 - Kimochii tto iieba nani (When would you say "This feels so good!")

There's a lot but, when you get out of the bath and clean your ears. Like right when you put it in. For Ai-chan, it's sweating at concerts. She sweats at other places too but it feels really good to her, specifically at concerts.

Tokumei-san asks, "Good evening Takahashi-san! At Yoshizawa's graduation, Gaki-san said 'This won't be Morning Musume anymore!' For me, I feel the same. Takahashi-san, congratulations on your graduation. Thank you for all your hard work. And Gaki-san, it'll soon be your time as leader of Hello!Project. I wanted to express my appreciation and thanks in some way so I hope my message makes it to you."

Gaki-san's always love Morning Musume so when she finally got to be in it, it was really something for her. But soon, with Ai-chan graduating, it'll be weird without her so she repeats that Morning Musume won't be the same anymore. Really amazing that 10 years have already passed. They've been a part of the group for so long (over half the life of MM) it feels strange that Ai-chan won't be around anymore. It's actually been about 5 years since the other Gokkies have graduated but it seems much less than that. Btw Yasuda was 21 when she became co-leader and the Gokkies joined so, at the time, they felt that she was like an old lady. Now they've passed that and it's like "Holy crap!"

Happy birthday to Ai-chan! 25 seems pretty far away for Riho. Ai-chan says she feels like she's close in age to Riho's mom haha.

For Riho, when she thinks about her traits, she feels like she's more energetic but weaker at the same time. Ai-chan points out her shyness and Riho agrees saying that during the audition, she never talked to anyone. Erippon was always talking to anyone about anything. It took Riho about a month to really come out and start speaking. Ai-chan says she'll probably grow out of that.

#5 - Kore osusume! (I'd recommend this)

Recently, Riho bought a chair for her room. It's nice and soft so it kinda forms to your body when you're sitting in it. Supposedly good for your health so Riho really likes it.

#4 - Kore dake taberarenai (Can't eat this)

Apples...but apple juice is okay. Riho doesn't like the crunchiness. Ai-chan says you should eat apples when you're sick, but Riho usually just drinks sports drinks haha. Pears are okay for Riho since they're less crunchy. There's some things that Riho will eat/drink, but given the choice, she wouldn't. For example, bittermelon and matcha. When Fuku-chan was on, she said, "Oh, there's really nothing I don't like." but really there was a lot. Ai-chan reminds us she won't eat monburan. Riho says her mom is the same.

YuukaRuupa-san asks, "Good evening! Feels like summer is really over now that it's so cool outside. Can you please tell us your feelings regarding Autumn?"

This year got really cool really fast it seems. Last year felt amazingly hot around this time. It's cool enough to wear long-sleeves but still hot enough to take it off when you've been wearing it a while. For Riho, Fall means MM's Fall tour is going on haha. Last year around this time, Riho still had a lot of summer homework to do (she put it off too long) so her teacher said it was okay to finish it during the school year. She also had to do radio exercises in the morning; however, since it was at 6:30AM and it was still dark outside, she never wanted to do it.

For Ai-chan, Fall means sweet potatoes. She loves them so much that she'd put them in everything she ate. Riho really loves sweet potatoes in her miso soup.

It gets pretty cold in Riho's hometown in Hiroshima. She'd have to use the heater in her classrooms at school. Sometimes her teacher would turn it off in the middle of class. Riho's legs would get so cold she couldn't study. Plus the entire class would get mad at the teacher.

Riho's tired now haha. After a concert, she's usually pretty tired. Since she's still in school, Ai-chan has the idea that she's always full of energy and always going out doing stuff. Riho admits she doesn't usually go out with friends but she ends up crashing after working.

#1 - Kore oishii! (This is delicious!)

Sushi. Her manager recently got her some sushi and some cake for doing so well during the tour. She's okay with wasabi and really likes the chuutoro. Ai-chan chimes in with Fukui sushi being pretty awesome as well. Hiroshima is famous for it's oysters so Riho eats them a lot.

Ai-chan: What about clams?
Riho: Ah...hmmm...I don't really know...
Ai-chan: You can eat oysters but not clams? Liki in miso soup or something?
Riho: Oh, well they're small so...
Ai-chan: What? You're small too!
Riho: Well, like I'd feel bad since they're little...

#5 - Daisuki! (Love it!)

Manga? Don't read it much. Dance? Love it for sure. Recently, Riho loves a purse from Ai-chan. According to Ai-chan, some fans have been really into new cell phones (Ai-chan's sis too) so Ai-chan has recently gotten more interested. Riho likes people with good voices. Like at karaoke, it would rate how well your voice is so Riho likes it when people have high scores.

Natchan-san asks, "Morning Musume good evening! I'm a high school senior now but will soon be in a university! I'm really nervous about entering so is there a good way that the members deal with anxiety? Please let me know!"

Going-into-college kind of nervousness is different from what the girls usually experience. Riho would just try to calm herself down until she's comfortable. Ai-chan would probably scream or move around. It's like, "Since you're gonna be nervous about it anyway so you might as well do something productive with it." So Natchan-san should do her best with whatever she can.

Fuku-chan does the frog from Miyazaki's Spirited Away. It's not her strong point and it's the only impression she does so she was happy to do it.

#6 - Kono kata sonkei shite imasu (I really respect this person [Family and group members excluded])

Tamori-san. Fuku-chan thinks he's pretty amazing and loves to watch him on TV. Just watching him makes her feel better.

Guitar. Fuku-chan's older brother plays electric guitar at home and she would like to try it. Since Fuku-chan is left-handed she can't play her brother's right-handed guitar so if there was a left-handed one, she would love to play it. Ai-chan gets bummed since you can't flip the strings so she could play.

She'd also like to play the drums. While in elementary school, she played flute in the band but really wanted to try the drums.

Ai-chan says there's quite a few members that are shy like that including herself. Fuku-chan as well. Lately, Ai-chan's really noticed Sayashi being very shy. Out of all the 9th gen, she's the most like that.

Strangely, before Ai-chan joined MM, she wasn't shy at all. Her parents were really surprised how much she's changed. Fuku-chan points out that since Mai-san is a 2nd year junior high school student, she should find someone that shares similar interests and try to be friends. It's important to try to start a relationship especially in school.

Girls haven't really had a chance to do any mountain climbing lately but Fuku-chan has gone when she was younger. Her and her family climbed Mount Takao in Hachioji, Tokyo. Ai-chan's been up numerous times on field trips for school while she was in Fukui.

#2 - Tension agetai toki kore wo suru (I do this to get psyched up)

Fuku-chan admits she can't really do it herself. If she's lonely or sad, it really shows and everyone asks her is she's okay. To make herself feel better she watches H!P =)

#4 - Kore dake ha taberarenai (Cannot eat this)

Fuku-chan doesn't really hate anything except paprika. So she can pretty much eat anything.

Fuku-chan: Ah there is that one thing...an olive.
Ai-chan: Oh the black ones?
Fuku-chan: I like olive oil but I don't like that.
Ai-chan: I see...so what about pizza then?
Fuku-chan: I'd take them off.
Ai-chan: You would? So you don't like the color then.
Fuku-chan: Ya and also this one time I was eating something hamburger-y...
Ai-chan: Hamburger-y!? What is that?
Fuku-chan: Well it was something mixed in, but I tasted something weird and they said it was an olive.

Ai-chan has a lot:
- Green peas
- Eggplant
- Mango (but it's ok since it doesn't show up in food)

Back in school, all the portion sizes for lunch were set so Ai-chan never really had leftovers. It's the opposite for Fuku-chan so she leaves behind whatever she doesn't want.

Ai-chan wouldn't drink the school's milk so she would give it to someone else. She remembers boys spurting milk out their noses and though it was really immature.

Lisa-san asks, "Morning Musume good evening! I really love animals and everyday I think about which one I'd like to keep. If you could keep any animal, what would it be? Please let us know! By the way, for me it would be a dolphin!"

Fuku-chan has a crab, a newt, a turtle, a goldfish, a killifish, and a dog.

Ai-chan: Wow, you've got a lot.
Fuku-chan: Ya, I really do.
Ai-chan: A crab?
Fuku-chan: Yep!
Ai-chan: Oh right! You were talking about it at the concert.

Fuku-chan goes to a park where crabs gather every year. So she took a small one home and named it "Kanira." But her mom ended up switching him for a another crab she bought at a supermarket.

Lots of H!P girls have cute dogs (mostly toy poodles). Fuku-chan has a papillon that she's had for about 7 years.

Back to the question, Fuku-chan would like to have an elephant but only if the house is big enough. Also a bear that won't eat her... yes like Pooh. Ai-chan would like a monkey. One of the dance instructors has one and Ai-chan thought it was really cute. She enjoys watching them play around at the zoo.

Zukki likes to play DS specifically Tsunku's game "Minna no Rhythm Tengoku." In elementary school, she couldn't play all that often since she was studying. So when she did play it was after finishing her homework. Her mom often scolded her for playing too long. Ai-chan mostly played Final Fantasy (and was often scolded too). Lately, Zukki hasn't been playing much since joining MM.

#5 - Kore naraitai (I want to learn this)

Zukki: I got nothing really but, back in elementary school, you could learn like penmanship and the abacus and stuff...
Ai-chan: So what did you want to learn then?
Zukki: Ah, well my first year it was piano and English...
Ai-chan: Oh right, your mom's a piano teacher.
Zukki: Right but...
Zukki: Penmanship and the abacus was something everyone wanted to learn so it filled up pretty fast.
Zukki: So when I tried, I was told, "Sorry the class is full." but I really wanted to learn.
Ai-chan: Ah, so you didn't get to.
Zukki: Yep. And my mom was like, "It would've been too much of a pain anyway right?"
Ai-chan: Exactly.

Right now Zukki wants to learn how to swim. At Zukki's school the pool is indoors which really surprises Ai-chan. When she was in school, Ai-chan admitted to hating swimming...so much so that she couldn't stand in the pool. Right now Ai-chan is learning yoga and dance.

Zukki: The moment you get in the bath.

Once again rolls a #4...and a #5 after that...and #5 three more times...and a #4 twice...

Ai-chan: Since Zukki's special skill is bug impersonations, you use a lot of body expressions. So this time try something using your voice.
Zukki: My voice?
Ai-chan: Yes, something that the listener's can easily understand.
Zukki: Eh? Oh, what would Takahashi-san like...
Ai-chan: Huh? Like I know! It's your skill!
Zukki: Hmmm....
Ai-chan: Can you do something?
Zukki: Well, I can do something bug-related I guess.
Ai-chan: Okay, but with your voice remember.

生まれ変わり！ [Reincarnation]

Aloha,

As I hinted to in my previous post, some changes have been made within the subbing groups. Due to recent actions taken against Hyakupa, the members have unfortunately decided to stop fansubbing Hello!Project works.

This comes as a disappointment to all of us in that, that's one less group in an already small subbing circle. I don't think a lot of people realize (or just simply forget) that it's something we don't have to do. Us as subbers have that option of just sitting back and enjoying the videos or radio shows ourselves and not bothering with anything else. But we take the time to create subs so that everyone can enjoy it. It's hard enough to balance real life without sitting down to do a project. It gets even harder to motivate yourself to do it when stuff like that happens...especially when subs are automatically expected and not appreciated.

Nevertheless, one thing (actually two good things) came from this. One is Invis has his own place to put up Michishige Sayumi's blog translations as well as subbing projects. You can find him at Nantonaku Translations. The other is takamaruyo, a new site designed to go where Hyakupa was planning to go, dedicated to bringing not just up-to-date information on the going-ons of Hello!Project, but moreso, a fresh new perspective on events and news.

Both sites are linked on the sidebar. Please continue to support both of them in their efforts!

I'd personally like to thank both of them for the help and support they have given me in the past. I hope that I have repayed them in (albeit, a very small way) kind. Best of luck to both of them in their future endeavors.

Goes to show that just one person can ruin a REALLY good thing.

Very unfortunate that the whole community was affected.

When Zukki hears festival, she thinks of the food carts. At a festival in Fukui, Ai-chan was heading to her ballet practice. She started dancing in the middle of the street. Zukki really loves to eat taiyaki at festivals.

#1 - Jitsu ha sugoi nigate (I'm actually pretty weak at...)

Zukki: Well, kinda unexpected but, insects...
Ai-chan: Oh yeah!
Zukki: It's not like I hate them...it's just when they come out I totally loose it.
Ai-chan: Ya it was pretty wild.
Zukki: Really?
Ai-chan: When we were in Hawaii for the FC tour, there were little ants in the hotel room.
Ai-chan: There were TONS of them. When you look at the wall, there were so many. It wasn't like it was dirty or anything...
Zukki: Didn't like that.
Ai-chan: But then you lost it...yelling out "Ants! Ants!"
Ai-chan: And I was like, "You impersonate them so much, why do you hate them?"
Zukki: Ah ya. I don't hate or like them...
Ai-chan: Well, at that time, I think you hated them a lot.

Zukki: But I'm fine with cockroaches.
Ai-chan: Oh yeaaahhhh....
Ai-chan: We're doing the H!P concerts right now and there's that "Best 3" where the fans vote for something. It's different at each concert and they announce different members each time.
Ai-chan: So one of them was "The person with the best way of on killing a cockroach" and I was picked...I think I was the third one...
Zukki: The second.
Ai-chan: So you were third. But when they announced me I was like, "How should I do it? I'll just wing it." and the first to go was BK's Maasa-chan.
Ai-chan: So when it was your turn, you were like pretending to eat a hamburger and was like, "Oh a cockroach!"
Zukki: Right. When I was eating my burger, I'd put the roach inbetween and eat it.
Ai-chan: That's too scary. How could you loose it with a tiny ant and be okay to eat a cockroach in your burger!?

[Laughs]
Ai-chan: Well, it's different in reality I guess.

#4 - Kore dake wo taberarenai (Something I can't eat)

Zukki: Watermelon...
Ai-chan: Oh yeah.
Zukki: ...I don't really want to eat.
Ai-chan: You don't want to eat? So you've eaten it before?
Zukki: I have but...the taste and the texture...and the smell...
Ai-chan: Eeh~ That's such a waste!
Zukki: That's what everyone says but I seriously can't eat it.

Ai-chan: Anything else?
Zukki: It's not so much eating, but I can't drink black tea.
Ai-chan: Ah ya, but that's something you'll probably grow out of.
Ai-chan: In elementary or middle school, it's like thinking "Man, black tea is so bitter." Same for coffee. Have you tried it?
Zukki: I can't drink coffee either.
Ai-chan: Uh-huh. Since it's bitter. Maybe it's natural for adults to be able to drink bitter things. But I can't drink Oolong tea.(nertz (ρ°∩°) )
Zukki: Wow really?
Ai-chan: Isn't it bitter?
Zukki: I love it!
Ai-chan: So you can drink black teas! Oolong tea is in the same category I think.

Ai-chan: I couldn't stand Jasmine tea.

Ai-chan: I thought it tasted like toilet... (no comment...　(´・ω・`;))

Ai-chan: I thought when I got older I could handle it but it's got that aroma to it...
Zukki: Maybe I'll be able to drink teas when I'm older.

AiBelieve-san asks, "I'll be going to the Budokan concerts for the Fall tour. It will be my first time in Tokyo and I'm really nervous. But since it's Ai-chan's graduation, I'll be strong. I'll probably be KY there so I ask your advice. I want to do some sightseeing while I'm there so I'd like to know some places you recommend. "

Zukki asks the same thing since she's been in Tokyo only six months.

Ai-chan recommends Samrat, a reasonably-priced Indian food-chain. Ai-chan always gets the Butter Chicken Curry. She also recommends the Monsoon Cafe, a ethnic food market. Both places are in Shibuya. Zukki gets super excited while Ai-chan's talking about food.

Zukki recommends the Tokyo Tower.

Theme - Diary

Sayu stopped writing in her diary when she started blogging. Better since she up pics and edit the entry right there. Writing diaries requires good kanji writing skills which the girls segue to other people's writing styles. In school, it kinda becomes a competition to see who can write the best. The girls are too embarrassed to show theirs.

Sayu often peeked at her siblings' diaries...to see how her writing compares to their's of course.

Sayu: Have you ever looked?
Ai-chan: Never.
Sayu: Really? Not even in your own house?
Ai-chan: NO! Never!
Sayu: Wow. Very admirable.
Ai-chan: Eh? You looked before.
Sayu: Sure did.

When Sayu was in high school, she wanted to know if her brother had a girlfriend. Since he never mentioned anything, she thought to check his room (specifically for magazines hohoho). To her disappointment, he didn't have anything. Sayu was like, "Isn't that weird!? He has nothing! Kinda scary right?"

Back to writing, Sayu says Ai-chan's is cute (of course it is). Ishikawa's writing is cute too since it's kinda loopy and fu-fu. On the flip side, Yasuda's writing is thick and blocky. "Kinda like an old man's."

Sayu: Nope. Rihoriho's got my cuteness so no.

Sayu wants to be good at braiding hair. Ai-chan can braid in the back but Sayu is opposite, she can only do the front. Aika can do both ways so Sayu admires that too. Since Sayu wants to learn, Ai-chan suggests she should be a make-up artist.

Conversation steers to Sayu needing to exercise. She's been wanting to do some training to improve her muscles. Ai-chan suggests going to the pool to swim.

Sayu: Ah, ya swimming would be good. But...
Sayu: I'd have to wear a swimsuit? <3
Ai-chan: What is that!?
Sayu: It's kinda embarrassing right? <3

Ai-chan points out she can exercise in the pool without having to swim.

"Morning Musume good evening!" Radio name Kido-san. "How often do you guys brush your teeth a day? I love brushing and I'm the type to do it whenever I can. Morning, evening and when I'm not doing anything. Also, how long do you brush?"

Of the members, Reina is usually the most frequent since she has a electric brush. Both Ai-chan and Sayu have one as well. 2-3 minutes 3-4 times a day usually.

Sayu: But if I'm in a rush, I usually brush pretty fast.
Sayu: Eri was like, "What's with the quick brushing? It's gross."

On concert days, they focus more on brushing. On a regular day, Sayu doesn't really think about it.

Sayu thinks of the ocean. The Michishige family always liked to do a "bread eating contest" and sometimes the kids do a snack version (potato chips, shrimp chips). You have to eat the entire thing using only your mouth. Pretty fun.

Ai-chan remembers the festivals from her neighborhood. Everyone from around would gather and bring whatever (food, games, etc.). Ai-chan always enjoyed the "super balls" while Sayu liked the goldfish catcher.

#2 - BANDO nara nani tantou (If you were in a band, what would you play [be in charge of]?)

Ai-chan: Probably just vocals right?
Sayu: Mmmm, probably not.

Sayu: If I was in charge, we wouldn't sell anything!

Ai-chan: So what would it be?
Sayu: What indeed...
Ai-chan: Didn't you have piano lessons?

Sayu: I got to play the accordion in kindergarten.
Ai-chan: Wow really?
Sayu: Ya. Pretty cool right? I was the only one since everyone else did piano. And I was the conductor.
Ai-chan: Ya but a conductor and an accordion don't fit so well in a band.
Sayu: Ah true. I'll be a manager then.
Ai-chan: No way you can do that.
Sayu: I know!! Ah...what should I do? I can't do anything. Guess I'll just stay in MM.

#5 - Hitotsu dake mahou ga tsukae to shitara donna mahou ga ii desu ka (If you could use one magic spell, what would you do?)

Sayu wants a younger sister (Riho does not count). Sad to say there is no good place to play with young sisters in Tokyo (compared to the country). Sisters like Rihoriho wouldn't mind tho. Speaking of Riho, the girls think she might be hating them since they like her too much. They should be more like a senpai towards her.

Sayu: Oh ya, about Riho...can I say this?
Ai-chan: Go ahead.
Sayu: I recently got a mail from Riho for my birthday and I got all happy and excited.
Ai-chan: Right.
Sayu: But it read like this, "Michishige-san, it makes me happy when you say I'm cute and I'm sorry for all the fake smiles I give you (lol)"
[Laughs]
Sayu: I was like, "What, you were faking being happy to me!?" I always thought those smiles of her were so cute, but it looks like she was forcing herself.
Ai-chan: Kinda shocking to get that on your birthday!
Sayu: I was really surprised but I'll keep working hard.
Ai-chan: I don't think Sayashi meant it like that.
Sayu: Ya, and there was that "lol" at the end so...

Ai-chan usually drinks water. Bottled waters been pretty cheap so she's been drinking a lot. Sayu lately likes hydrogenated water. Her mom makes it at home so she drinks it pretty often.

#3 - Kore dake wa taberarenai (Cannot eat this)

Gaki-san: Something I can't eat huh...
Ai-chan: For you it's like, "Hmm...which one to choose..."
Gaki-san: Ya, which one...Well, something that I definitely will not eat is pakkuchi (cilantro)
Ai-chan: Pakkuchi?? It's pakuchi isn't it?
Gaki-san: Is it? No! It's pakkuchi right?

Ai-chan: No! It's pakuchi!
[Laughs]
Gaki-san: Ya, like 22 or 23 years now.
Ai-chan: You're 22. Well if you count 0 as a year I guess it would be 23.

Ai-chan says if she travels around Asia more or eats more exotic food she might grow to like it. Gaki-san points out that Ai-chan can't handle eggplant, which Ai-chan emphatically agrees.

#4 - Minna shiranai darou kedo honto ha watashi konna hito (Nobody really knows this but I'm this kind of person)

Gaki-san: Eee~ You know me already.
Ai-chan: Ya that's true. You don't hide anything. So let's do a different one.

Gaki-san wants to be her little sister. She's working a part-time job now and Risa wants to try (since she couldn't being in MM).

Gaki-san: Ai-chan, what would you want to work as?
Ai-chan: I'd like to work the drive-thru. Like at McDonald's.
Gaki-san: Huh? But doing the drive-thru is just using your voice right?
Ai-chan: Yepz.
Gaki-san: Then you would definitely stammer!

ShichiNoKoAeru-san asks, "Good evening. For me, this month I'll start training. Every two weeks for a year, I'll be training for an audition. I'm was so uneasy about it and now I'm nervous. So I'd like to ask Morning Musume, is there anything you do or say for good luck before you sing in front of a crowd? Please let me know."

Since they were so young when they auditioned, looking back it doesn't seem that they were that nervous. If they auditioned now, they would be a total wreck. [Lots of reminiscing about audition and first plays.]

They end up saying it's okay to be nervous and to cry. Also to try to pump yourself up by yelling (like Reina does) or doing something your comfortable with.

Gaki-san wishes for something with all of the 5th gen. Since Ai-chan's graduating, she'd like to get everyone together and do something (not necessarily a live).

Ai-chan wants to become a pirate in the One Piece world...of course because of Sanji.

Gaki-san: You know, on our bus tour in Nagano, so many of your fans had something Sanji-related. I was like, "Seriously??"
Ai-chan: I know...there were so many it was like "Whoaaah..."

If she was in One Piece, she'd pet Chopper (which of course he wouldn't tolerate). Gaki-san says it'd be nice living in an anime world.

#5 - Kono kata sonkei shite imasu (I really respect this person (sans family members))

Gaki-san says she really finds the fans amazing. (She hesitated using the word sonkei [respect, revere]). The girls have noticed they've been more thoughtful towards them. For instance, on the bus tour, it was Tanabata so the fans wrote out their wishes to be tied to a tree. Instead of wishing things for themselves, they wrote them for Ai-chan and Gaki-san (i.e. "I hope you will continue to always smile." or "I wish Ai-chan all the happiness in the world."). Tears fell yo.

Also on the tour, a fan wrote that he wanted something special with Ai-chan. Mainly that he stood behind Ai-chan, she looked over her shoulder and said "Who~ is that?" all cute-like. He got lucky and got his wish on stage. And then, every other Ai-chan fan died of jealousy. "Lucky boy..."

#1 - Kore dake ha hito ni makenai (No one beats me at this)

Eyesight. Ai-chan thinks there's someone else in H!P that has good eyes but can't remember who. This girl can read the letters and numbers off a plane in the air (i.e. JAL417 or ANA522). Gaki-san says she can too.

Gaki-san: So what about you? Something no one can beat you at.
Ai-chan: I don't think there's anything.
Gaki-san: Like, "No one can stammer better than me."
Ai-chan: WHAT.
Gaki-san: It's fine.
Ai-chan: Though I surprise myself. I messed up "avacado."
Gaki-san: Oh man! You did! "Adoka..." what was it?
Ai-chan: "Adobado"
Gaki-san: Haha. Ya you even mess up small words like "...da yo"
Ai-chan: I know. Like even everyday words like "Sahanji..."
Gaki-san: "Sahanji?!" wwwwwwwww

OozoraWataru-san asks, "I have a question. In an effort to conserve electricity, the "Super Cool Biz" campaign has started. So shorts, Aloha shirts and T-shirts are okay to wear to work. But I'm worried about how far to take it. So according to Morning Musume, what would be acceptable to wear? Please give me your best advice."

When Ai-chan recently went to the post office, the workers were in Aloha shirts. Surprising to her since she wasn't used to it. There's tons of salarymen on the trains and walking around so you know they're gonna be hot. Jerseys = bad. Polo shirts = good. Shoes? Something comfortable. Doesn't have to be sandals.

They then talk about what men's fashion they have.

Theme - Seven

July so it's Tanabata and Ikuta's birthday. Fourteen this year so she's pretty young compared to these two. But Sayu was 13 when she entered so it's not all that different. For both of them, 15-17 was kind of a blur. Around 17 Sayu started to consciously think about what she's doing as work.

The number seven conjures up "Lucky Seven" and Ai-chan asks Sayu if she has a favorite number. She's got a lot. She likes "9" since there's nine members and has always liked "4." Ai-chan says she likes "7" but Sayu figured she'd like "1" since it's at the top. Sayu also likes "11" ... so much so that she constantly thinks about it (like drinking 11 gulps of barley tea). Ai-chan thinks of it as a habit and explains her left-sided jinx.

Ai-chan: Hee~ so you like the number 11 then huh?
Sayu: Yep I do. Please remember it.

#2 - Michishige-ryuu kenkouhou (Michishige's thoughts on health)

Sayu says to eat your vegetables is the number one thing. It's natural to like sweet things but it's imperative to eat veggies. And be sure to eat everything, not just the ones you like. Exercise is also important (poor Sayu) like Reina and her hula-hoop.

#3 - Dansei no suki na shigusa (A guy's actions/behaviors that you like)

After a soccer player makes a goal, he's so happy. Seems like other sports aren't as carefree like that. After he scores, he runs around like crazy which Sayu thinks is cute (awesome. i knew those years of playing would come in handy one day. +1 to kai). Sayu (and her mom) enjoyed watching the World Cup. They wanted to be in the stadium with everyone since there's so much more energy.

#1 - Karako-san asks, "I really enjoy listening to the show! Lately it's been so muggy. Are you guys a hare-onna? Or a ame-onna?"

Ai-chan admits she's not a ame-onna...she's a arashi-onna. At almost each one of her photoshoots, the one thing for certain, is a storm. There's tons of pics with the sky really cloudy. Sayu brings up the time Ai-chan went with Koharu and her sis to Disney Sea after hours. After the fireworks, they started to get on a ride but it poured like crazy. Ai-chan joked it was part of the attraction.

Sayu believes she's only a partial ame-onna. Her last couple of photoshoots were cloudy but not raining. Before MM had a lot of ame-onna but it seems to have balanced out with the new gen.

#2 - MajiMax-san asks, "Good evening Morning Musume. I have a question: has there been a time lately that you think, 'Is it only me that does this?'?"

The girls remember they talked about this earlier in the show (Sayu's 11 gulps and Ai-chan's left-sided thingie). Sayu says she just realized something about Horikita Maki. Until recently, she always thought her name was Horiki Tamaki until she saw her name in kanji.

Theme - Half

Start off talking about how girls like to take half-sizes of something. Sayu can't think of which half to take since usually one part is slightly bigger than the other. Ai-chan would take the smaller half if she was given the choice. When she was younger, Sayu would cry when she wanted something her sister had. Sis would think she was being a pain and give her half. Sayu says she's changed since then...maybe.

#4 - Kore dake wo taberarenai (Something I cannot eat)

Ai-chan says Sayu usually eats anything. She agrees but admits she didn't like beef jerky while in Hawaii. She compares it to bacon (which she can eat) being kinda dry but with a stronger taste. She's also not fond of salami. She made salami curry one time thinking the curry would mask the salami (it worked for her with carrots when she was a kid) but she couldn't handle it. If there's salami on pizza, she'll take them off. Other things Sayu doesn't really like: marshmallows, mango-flavored candy/gummy, vanilla-only ice cream.

#6 - Kondo no yasumi kore wo suru (Next time I'm on a break, I wanna do this)

Sayu would like to head down to Okinawa and see the Churaumi Aquarium. Ai-chan's already been and said it was amazing. Off topic, but Sayu's mom and sis were down in Okinawa and took a taxi around. The driver was apparently super nice and drove them over 200km for 5000yen. They tried to pay him more but he wouldn't take it saying that their smiles were more than enough.

At the Aquarium, Sayu wants to see the rays. Ai-chan tells her the place is huge which makes Sayu want to go even more.

OishiiCookieNaTsukurikata-san asks, "Good evening Morning Musume. With the release of your 47th single, is there anything you would like to experience? I'm sure you've got tons of answers to that so instead, is there anything you absolutely do NOT want to experience? Like a certain store/job you do not want to work at? For instance, like a pet shop with reptiles or something."

Ai-chan and Sayu both agree they would hate working with reptiles. There would be too many insects too which the members hate with a passion. If there's a fly buzzing around, the girls would freak out and ask a manager to kill it. Sayu admits she's no good at cleaning either. She's okay at home cleaning the house but if she had to clean a park bathroom or something she couldn't handle it. Also the fact that she's cute and there would be drunk weird old men walking around. Sayu also said she wouldn't be a mover. Ai-chan agrees saying it's not Sayu at all and that it's more of a guy's job anyway. Her dad worked as a mover before. Sayu also wouldn't like working in a cell phone store since she can't explain how the cell phone works or handle complaints. Both are quite happy to be in Morning Musume.

There's finally a light at the end of the tunnel.
After next week, my schedule will be returning to almost normal. Sweetness.
So expect the radio shows to be back and some releases.
Not enough interest for Miki/Tsunku blogs so I guess those will be no-go.

Okay so lots of stuff happening.

Short version:
Finally finished working on something with KIDS, but due to work schedule and personal stuff, couldn't get it to them in the promised time (again, apologies KIDS). Since my schedule was so screwed, I focused all my time on that project which is why FIVE STARS hasn't been coming.

Still got a back-log of shows but they will get done...just not in the time I would like since work is still screwing me. Once I get those out of the way I'll start up on Hyakupa's Pure Blue. I got tired of seeing it stuck at 50% and knowing no one was going to continue it, so ya.

Interestingly, I've gotten a lot of hits on Miki's blog translations. I got away from them since they were mostly about fashion, food and whatnot but, anyone want me to start those up again? I still won't do every single one but I pick out the more interesting ones. The same goes for Tsunku's blog although I have received much fewer hits for his.

So that's about it. Thanks to everyone who messaged me. Appreciated the sentiments.

And now to prepare for MM's Hawaii concert. \(^_^)/

She needs to put more expression into what she writes no matter if it's something simple. Riho likes getting mails when she clears a level or finishes a game.

Maid cafe. Since she likes to cosplay she would like to try working there. Sweet.

Riho rolls the same. She'd like to work a cash register since she likes the sound the buttons make. Ai-chan understands saying she had a toy register as a kid and made her sister "buy" stuff so she could pretend to work.

Riho can't think of being called either. Ai-chan asks if there were times she got super mad before she joined MM. Riho answered she usually got mad everday since she fought with her sister. They'd yell at each other a lot for meddling in each others stuff (like true siblings). With work and school she doesn't really get to spend a lot of time with her lately so she's a little sad. She's also tried to be more responsible with doing things like laundry. It was her first time doing it and she said it was difficult to make sure everything was right. Also, when she goes out with her friends, she tries hard to be more mature.

Riho loves her cider so she drinks something carbonated. In the morning, she dances too.
Erina hops in the bath in the morning. The steam kinda wakes her up and gets her going.

Ai-chan: A shower would do that too you know. Wakes you up pretty good.
Ai-chan: Man you guys are so good today with the bath and dancing...
Erina: I also eat curry in the morning!
Ai-chan: HUH!?
Ai-chan: You should have left it at shower...
Ai-chan: So what do you mean? Eating curry in the morning?
Erina: Well, I heard it from my mom, but Ichiro eats curry in the morning. So on test days I eat it to really wake me up.

For Ai-chan, if she absolutely had to wake up then she would. But if she was struggling, she'd hurt herself with a pinch or dig her nails into her skin.
One year when she was in high school, she only went to one test day since she was traveling back and forth.

Riho says she kinda wants to follow the other members who branch out into other forms of entertainment (i.e. theatre, voice actor, etc.) Erina would like to bring out her character fully. Not just one side of her but everything. When she entered MM, she had that KY thing going but in Fukuoka it was normal. So to Erina, it was like finding a new side of character. Ai-chan praises her KY-ness.

Both girls admit they don't want to get married. Reina says it'd be too hard and Ai-chan chimes in with "don't want to be tied down." If they find happiness with someone then that's what matters. Of course they still have time, so they can still get married if they want to...unlike Nakazawa hohoho...

Reina: Ya, he is. He's really considerate of my mom. But they fight...and when they do, it's my dad that's mature enough to end it.
Ai-chan: So is that like your ideal guy then?
Reina: Well, my dad is kinda ugly so...

Ai-chan: At first, I did think they were kinda short. But also, I thought there's a lot to remember in MM. They always shine right? Like on stage and stuff. And then, with more people starting to sing more, I didn't know really how to dance with that... like in The Peace with the "ha, ha, ho, ho ikouze!" part, I kept thinking, "Oh, this is how the dance is!" And you have to remember how you're positioned so it was a lot harder than I originally thought. Plus, the group got bigger.

The girls then relate when it really hit them that they were in MM and that the members were real people. When that "she's my sempai" barrier broke down, they found it easier to talk to them and get along.

Ai-chan of course has her toy poodle, but she thinks she'd like a goldfish since they're easy to take care of.

Gaki: What about a rabbit?
Ai-chan: Nope.
Gaki: Why? I'd like to have one.
Ai-chan: Seems like it'd be lonely all the time.
Gaki: How about a monkey?
Ai-chan: What!?
Gaki: I don't know...I'm just thinking whatever.

Ai-chan: Ooh, a dolphin would be nice.
Gaki: An dolphin!! How would you take care of it?
Ai-chan: Oh wait, I can't stand the ocean... I can't swim and stuff.

Gaki-san then brings up a parrot but says it would be bad for Ai-chan since it would repeat her stumbling. Ai-chan would probably get annoyed and keep yelling at it...which it repeat and stumble more.

Gaki flips it to Ai-chan and brings up haunted houses. Ai-chan admits she's freaked about them but it's more that she hates being surprised. Despite saying to the staff that she hates them, they still made her did it for batsu-game and stuff.

They then talk about Ai-chan's obsession with One Piece. Soon her blog will be covered with emoji. They blame LinLin for getting it started. Speaking of LinLin, Ai-chan says her name comes up in one of the newer volumes. She wished LinLin was still in Japan so that she could see it.

Gaki: Man, guys in manga and dramas always end up so cool.
Ai-chan: Yep, but wait...it's your time! You should be talking!
Gaki: Mmm, more than actions, I like a guy's smile and laugh.
Ai-chan: Ah, a smiling face is really nice isn't it.

The girls laugh at Aika's Kansai-ben and think of some examples. For Aika, if her family went anywhere, they would tell Aika to go to the bathroom. For Ai-chan, it was "Hurry up and xxxx!" Ai-chan was always late getting ready to go somewhere so her parents would be at the door yelling at her. But they tell Oishiicookie to do what she's told and go to bed...but also to listen to FIVE STARS.

For the members, they're usually doing concerts during Golden Week. But if they didn't, Aika would go somewhere with Ai-chan...like Korea.
If it was just Aika, she didn't really know what to do. Ai-chan suggests she would go home but Aika wants to go someplace different...with more nature, like a onsen.

Ai-chan would want to go overseas if she had a week to herself. Specifically Australia since Sanma-san brings back gifts from there.

#1 - Mitsui Aika-ryuu kenkouhou (Aika's thoughts on hygiene)

Aika always wakes up early and eats breakfast. It's something she never misses. She makes sure she eats all three meals for that day and goes to bed around 11pm.

Ai-chan: Wow...early.
Aika: Well, I have to get ready still...
Ai-chan: I go pretty late.
Aika: Everyone thinks like 12am is good right?
Ai-chan: It's like 2 or 3am for me...

Aika gets everything ready for breakfast the next morning. Such a good little girl =P
Ai-chan remembers when Aika had first entered and was the perfect kouhai. Koharu had to be taught a lot of simple manners when she joined, but Aika was already fine.

For Ai-chan, she likes it when talks go in sequence, but sometimes people just stop listening while she's in the middle. She admits she does the same, especially when Gaki-san is talking. But Aika listens to the whole conversation and never shows if she dislikes anything.

Orenjinorokuban-san asks, "Ai-chan, you dyed your hair didn't you. When you put it up on your blog, you got a lot of comments. How did you handle everyone's response? Also, I was wondering if you dyed your hair because you like Sanji from One Piece? You like your hair now? It looks really good on you."

She was really uneasy about doing it at first. She's been saying she wanted to do it for the past year and a half so her fans were kinda expecting it. Most of the comments were like "Ah, you finally did it!" Ai-chan originally thought it would be a more negative reaction but she was happy when her fans said they liked it. She planned on doing it after the PV shot for Maji and before Only You and liked the fact that she was copying Sanji too.

After she dyed it she was thinking it was a good thing...kinda bring a lighter feeling to the group. Since the 9th gen are still in school they have to be dark-haired, Sayu looks good the way she is, and Reina and Gaki are fine with brown. So that leaves Aika to try out something haha. Aika admits she wants to do something but is not sure what.

Opening Talk:
Theme - Old Times

4/29 is Showa no hi, a holiday that honors the birthday of the Showa Emperor Hirohito. For Reina "Showa" means "retro = curry rice = steam train = old time photos (sepia)." Also people had slim faces and wore hats a lot. Reina was born in the first year of the Heisei period and when she tells people that they get really surprised, which of course Reina loves.

Ai-chan thinks of "bubble" referring to the bubble economy. The girls talk about how unbelievable it was when the price of a sweet potato was 1000yen, but they're happy things worked out so that Japan is stable again.

Dice Talk - #5 Takaramono oshiete

Reina can't think of anything. Ai-chan says it doesn't have to be something material...it could be a memory or something. Reina is prone to forgetting things quickly so it doesn't help. She does remember that she was a good kid growing up and Ai-chan says that her family is probably something very important to her. Naturally Reina had her rebellious phase but it was her mom that always helped her.

The girls notice that their friends back home are getting married or having kids so the conversation steers to hometowns. Ai-chan's speaking without her accent much better but sometimes words just slip out. People from Tokyo think it's great. Reina's noticed the same thing...like people want to be her friend more naturally if they are from Fukuoka.

Ai-chan asks for another Shin-chan impersonation. Reina tries to teach Ai-chan how to do it but it's kinda fail :P

Idetsu-san asks, "Yesterday my tooth really hurt. I'm to scared to go to the dentist at all. Is everyone in MM okay with the dentist?
Reina loves the dentist, but she doesn't like going to the hospital. It's like she hates the going part but when she gets there she's all happy and excited.
Reina once had her teeth cleaned but her gums started bleeding. It wasn't because of the cleaning...it's just how she is. Whenever she rinsed her mouth there's always a little blood.
But both girls enjoy the fact that they feel clean after going so they tell Idetsu-san to go quickly.

Guest this week is Reina-sama.

This is Reina's second time as guest by herself but third time total. Yay~

Last time she was on, she did an impression of Crayon Shin-chan. Recently, she's noticed a lot comments about Shin-chan on her blog and wondered why...she then realized it was because of the show. Reina obliged to do it again except this time with more "Reina speech." Not much difference imo.

Opening Talk:
Theme - Uniform

First thing Reina thinks of is Matsuda Seiko. Why? Reina was watching a show where at the very end, Matsuda-san sings a song wearing a uniform. The performance was so good that it made an impact on Reina. So from then on she associates "seifuku" with Matsuda Seiko. Ai-chan asks her to sing a little. Reina gets flustered but sings anyway.

For Ai-chan, she thinks of school uniforms. When she was in elementary school, she had to wear one but it was actually a blazer (which has hugely popular at the time). So, she really started to like the sailor uniforms as she got older. When she got into middle school, she got to wear one but couldn't understand why people like it so much. Reina says she's the same way. While in Fukuoka, it was always sailor uniform except in summer when they switch to blazers. When she moved to Tokyo, it was a blazer again.

Reina: But Ai-chan, when you were wearing a uniform in elementary school...
Ai-chan: Ya?
Reina: does that mean you were smart or had tons of money?
Ai-chan: No! But that is kinda the image you get.
Reina: Ya, you do.
Ai-chan: But that's how schools are in Fukui. There's not a lot of seifuku.
Reina: That's really something isn't it?
Ai-chan: But even pre-school is like that.
Reina: So there wasn't any...like regular clothes?
Ai-chan: No, not really.
Reina: Oh wow!
Ai-chan: But this one time in middle school, there was this "casual get-together" and I was so worried about what to wear.
Reina: Ah, you were like "What should I wear!?" But...I wanna say this...
Reina: When you see regular uniforms, you're like "Ah, she's cute" or "Oh, he's cool" but,
Reina: when the same person comes in regular clothes, aren't you a bit disappointed?
Ai-chan: Oh ya!
Reina: It's like, "What's she doing!?"

Dice Talk - #4 Tokugi

Reina can't really think of anything besides hula hoop. She's been doing it for about five months but yesterday, she had some free time so she did it a lot. Ai-chan says she'd get pretty muscular doing that.

Reina tries to balance out her eating with hula-hooping. If she overeats, she'll hoop for an hour. If she has time in the morning, she'll hoop for five or ten minutes. Ai-chan is amazed she'll wake up early for that. Most people just stop at thinking. Also, Reina enjoys taking walks (haha). It's not so much a skill as it is a hobby. Ai-chan still thinks it's pretty awesome she wakes up that early. If she doesn't have to get up early, she'll stay up late the night before on her computer or cleaning.

Hisako-san asks, "I really love clothes! When I see a stylish person, I unconsciously check them out. What I think is stylish about me is my shoes. I really think they're great no matter what I wear. What do the members of MM think is stylish?"

For both Reina and Ai-chan, they look at the whole picture not just one particular thing. They have to see how "balanced" they are and decide what goes with what. Reina's more interested in the size or length of clothes than anything else.

Ai-chan says Reina's always checking the 9th gen but won't say anything. They each talk about each 9th gen members style and what suits them.

Theme - Cherry blossoms

Ai-chan asks when it's time for the cherry blossoms to bloom, what do the girls think of? Riho says she thinks about becoming a middle school student. [The blooming season usually coincides with beginning of a new school year.] While in elementary school, you're kinda still looked on as a kid, while being in middle school gives a little more mature image.

Erina says it reminds her of sakura namiki [row of cherry trees]. Ai-chan says the ones in Meguro are really pretty. You really can't walk anywhere without being surrounded by petals.

For Ai-chan, she's reminded of a scene in One Piece where a doctor says Chopper's sick. Chopper looks at the cherry blossoms outside and is instantly healed. Ai-chan was pretty moved by that.

#3 Zutto tabete ittai hodo suki na mono

Riho loves peaches. She said every year, her dad would always bring some back from trips from Okayama.

Erina rolls a three and Ai-chan brings up last week's show where they kept rolling 5s. Laughs all around. Erina answers strawberries and Ai-chan just loves it.

Erina: Me and stawberries get along great.

Ai-chan: But the question was, "What's something you like that you'll always eat?"

Erina: For me, I like strawberries as is.

Ai-chan: Ooh, so nothing like condensed milk or anything...

Erina: Ya, I go to pick them quite often.

Ai-chan starts on strawberry picking where you often eat a lot of strawberries as opposed to say grapes. Erina says that earlier she went to pick some and there was this guy there who was like, "Sweet! I just ate 132 of them!" So Erina wanted to know how much 132 would be but by the time she was done, she wasn't even close.

Next roll - #5 Takahashi Ai-chan konna hito

Riho answers that she's a cool person. During the "Maji desuka SKA" PV, everyone had to be energetic and smiling. The staff had to keep telling the Kyuukies to be more energetic but never said a word to Ai-chan. Riho thought that was pretty cool. Ai-chan thinks Riho's pretty cool too since her dancing is so good.

Erina answers that she's cute. Ai-chan starts to get a little embarrassed. Erina continues on saying her face is cute, they way she does things separately is cute, etc. Ai-chan's answers she's more like an old-lady when she does things...even sneezing. Before Erina joined, she was watching "Lullaby Game" and thought Ai-chan was really cool. When she met her for the first time, she thought she was really cute.

UFA - Ai wa Katsu

Riho reads a letter from Maya-san, who says that she enjoys mixing spaghetti with ochazuke. It might sound a little strange but it's really good. Is there any foods/cooking that you guys like?

For Riho, her mom likes to take butter and soy sauce and put it in rice. The hot rice melts the butter and mixes with the soy sauce. Ai-chan asks if it's like a risotto but it's not really. Riho says to watch out since it has some pretty high calories.

Erina likes to put some mayo and yakiniku tare on her rice. Ai-chan's a little interested in the yakiniku tare on the rice but not so much with the mayo. Erina can do just mayo. Reminds Ai-chan of a "nuke it in 3 minutes" cookbook where you microwave pork then mix mayo with kimchee and microwave it again. Pretty good apparently. Riho and Erina are okay with spicy foods but Ai-chan says the majority of MM isn't.

Riho wants to try the kimchee pork Ai-chan talked about earlier. Erina's happy that her and Riho are now middle school students together. Both want to be back on the show.

First time on so they're nervous. Since this maybe the first time some people have heard their voices, Ai-chan suggests that they say their name each time.

Opening Theme:
Hobby

Erina's hobbies include golf and purika. In her 3rd year of elementary school, she started playing and gradually became more and more interested in it. But then she joined MM so she can't really play it anymore. She brought her clubs from Fukuoka when she moved to Tokyo.

Riho's hobby is creating really small and detailed constructions, like a really really small crane and stuff.. She also likes to do origami that's only 2cm tall, like a praying mantis. Ai-chan says it's very unexpected to be into that. But it's good since it gives her a more cooler image.

Theme #5 - Ima kara monomane wo shimasu

No one has seen a monomane from Riho. She decides on aogaeru, the frog spirit from Miyazaki's Spirited Away. Very cute. Ai-chan imitates "No Face" and the girls get a kick out of it.

Erina rolls the same as Riho so she decides on a maid. She does her line, "Welcome home, master!" and Ai-chan's like wtf. Apparently the girls want Ai-chan to do it (sweet jesus > <) but she unfortunately declines.

Another roll another monomane. Erina asks to do a hamster and Ai-chan asks, "Do hamsters actually make a sound?" Again very cute. One more roll! Number 5! Ai-chan asks if there's anything they are good at. Erina's pretty good at doing a newscaster and such. Newscaster is requested.

Ai-chan: You know, you're impressions are like barely understandable. It's like, "Ya I kinda get it just enough to know what it is."

Ai-chan ends up doing Chibi Mari-chan and says Reina's pretty good at monomanes.

Letter from Kisameki-san asks if the girls know of good ways to help with problems and relieve stress. Riho talks with her mom about whatever's bothering her. Ai-chan's impressed and says she never said anything that mature when she was in elementary school. Erina talk with her mom as well as her friends and also goes out to karaoke. Earlier she stayed out 7 hours with her friend doing karaoke. Ai-chan says her and Reina stay about 5 hours. They kept singing their favorites and lost track of time. Ai-chan likes to go to plays and musicals to forget about her stress.

Ai-chan loves roses. When she was young, her and her mom planted roses and tried to make them grow. It was very difficult to keep them growing but when they bloomed, she thought they were very pretty and was very happy.

For her birthday this past year, she did some CM work and received a bouquet of black roses. She thinks it's very unusual and surprising, but they seemed kinda mysterious and dangerous so she immediately liked them.

I hope that while everyone hears this show, they will be happier and more energetic. I've got tons of Morning Musume songs ready, so I hope you guys have fun listening.

With aftershocks still coming and the rescue operations being performed, it's still a serious situation. When I think about things like that, I like to imagine Ai-chan and everyone being so energetic and smiling.

Theme - Graduation

It'll be graduation season soon, so the girls open with Riho and Kanon's graduation from elementary school. It's a pretty big event for young kids. When Reina was in elementary school, she didn't have to wear a uniform so for her graduation ceremony, she didn't know what to wear. She didn't want to wear a suit or anything formal so she ended up wearing usual street clothes and her hair in a ponytail...she was also blonde at the time.

Ai-chan says most everyone in Morning Musume was a transfer student to Tokyo so a lot of them couldn't make many good memories. For her, she moved in her 3rd year of middle school to Tokyo and thought that it was so much different. She only had the second and third semesters of school left before graduating so she really didn't have any time at all to make any good memories. Ai-chan actually has two graduation albums, one from her hometown and one from Tokyo (which doesn't have a lot of pictures in it).

Reina: On Valentines, the members exchange stuff right?
Ai-chan: Ya we did this year.
Reina: And you and Aika gave out hand-made sweets right? And since around Valentines, we're so busy anyway, I was really happy to get hand-made stuff. But Aika's had this plastic wrap inside....
Ai-chan: You serious!?
Reina: Well, it wasn't on purpose I'm sure...
Ai-chan: Of course not!
Reina: So, I thought I have to tell Aika about that.
Ai-chan: You have to!
Reina: But for now, I can tell everyone about it.
Ai-chan: Poor Aika!!

Dice Talk - #5 Ima kara monomane

Lately, Reina's been into doing Crayon Shin-chan impressions; however, doing just a regular impression is boring. So Reina spices it up by having Shin-chan sing. What to sing? The new single? Sure! But she has to practice first. Ai-chan loves it.

Ai-chan then tells Reina about Gaki-san's impressions of Fujiki Shigeru and Nagasawa Kimio from Chibi-Maruko, which in her opinon, were not good at all. Ai-chan says Reina looks like she can impersonate just about anyone.

Panmimi-san asks, "When I was walking down the stairs from the train station, I was spacing out a little and slipped and fell. People asked if I was all right. It made me happy to know they cared but I felt so embarrassed. Is there anything that I can do in that situation? Have any of the members had similar experiences?"

Apparently, Reina's been kinda spacey a lot lately. Nothing as embarrassing as the listener but, she mistakenly sends mails to her friends instead of her parents. On one occassion, she thought she sent one to her dad, but her friend replied back. She kept thinking, "Why would my friend be saying that?" having no clue she sent it to the wrong person. Her excuse was, it was early in the morning so Reina may have been half asleep.

Ai-chan kind of had the same experience. Today, she got a mail from one her friends saying, "Don't eat any curry." Ai-chan had no idea what it meant so she replied back, "You sent this to the wrong person didn't you."

For an embarrassing story, middle school Ai-chan was riding her bike in the rain. Since she had on her raincoat, it was hard for her to see well. She slipped and ended up hitting a guard rail on the side of the road. On of her neighbors saw it and came to see if she was all right. Ai-chan was fine but majorly embarrassed.

Theme - 3D

Ai-chan: So the theme for this week is "3D." It's like, "It's finally here!" kinda.
Reina: 3D equals Morning Musume!
Ai-chan: Yay! Yes, Morning Musume are 3D ambassadors. But when we started, I didn't really know about 3D too much, but since we've been given the chance to experience it, it was really amazing. I was really moved.
Reina: Before you watch it, you kinda have an idea in your head about what to expect. But watching the real thing and being in that kind of setting, it's almost like watching a horror show.
Ai-chan: Oh yeah!! I bet they're doing that with horror shows.
Reina: What? 3D? Wouldn't it be freaky if Sadako (The Ring) will be in 3D??
Ai-chan: I think it'll definitely be done.
Reina: Oh man, that'd be so scary.
Ai-chan: But doing something like that, you know that there will be 3D haunted houses and stuff like that.
Reina: I know! But even watching a movie in my own house...like when the ghost appears, I can't even go to the bathroom.
Ai-chan: Ya! When Sadako appeared, I couldn't go either...and I couldn't sleep that night.

Ai-chan's first 3D movie was "Avatar." She goes on to explain how they made "clones" of themselves and were able to move their consciousness into them and move around. It was a pretty long movie and Reina was glad to not have seen it. But she will eventually since it's in 3D.

[Embarrassing thing number one]
Ai-chan: Embarrassing.
Reina: Embarrassing? Maji desu ka SKA?
Ai-chan: You have something embarrassing to share with us?
Reina: Ya I think I have a lot. Recently, I wanted to eat tsukemono (pickled veggies). So, I was looking around and saw takuan (pickled radish). And I thought to myself, "What exactly is takuan?" "Takuan is takuan!" is what I thought.
Ai-chan: Huh?
Reina: Well, takuan is radish right? But I thought it was the name of the plant.
Ai-chan: Oh like the name of the vegetable.
Reina: Right, the name of it. So, I thought that you use takuan to make takuan. But then I heard that it was actually radish, and I started to not like it so much.
Ai-chan: What for!?
Reina: Well, it's not that I don't really like it. More like I'm embarrassed to eat it.

Ai-chan: Ah yeah, me too. When I ate the purple shibadzuke (salted pickled veggies), as soon as found out it was eggplant, I stopped eating it.

Ai-chan: What is fukujindzuke...
Reina: See? No one knows about tsukemono.

[Embarrassing thing number two]
Reina: Earlier, I wanted to go to the dentist, and usually I have someone else call for me. It's kinda scary talking to receptionists over the phone and I don't like doing it. But this time I was told, "Do it yourself!"
Ai-chan: Right.
Reina: So I got out my insurance card and called the number. And I was like, "Oh I'd like to see the dentist today." and they told me, "Um, this is the opthamology department."
Ai-chan: HAHAHAHA!!
Reina: Man, I was so freakin' embarrassed after that. I'm having someone call from now on.

The girls then figure out what fukujindzuke is. It's a mix of radish, eggplant, lotus roots and cucumber with soy sauce often served with curry. The girls realize that the hated veggies are in it (radish for Reina, and eggplant for Ai) so they can't eat fukujindzuke anymore.

Yamada Max-san asks, "My girlfriend has hated huge fish for a while. When we go to aquariums, she's super-scared of the big fish tanks. By the way, I'm weak against birds. Is there anyone in Morning Musume that is weak against a certain animal?"

Ai-chan says there's certainly a lot of people scared of birds, like Ishikawa Rika for one. Speaking of birds, Reina doesn't really like crows. When Reina was walking past a shrine, a priest came out and said, "Ah, kind of eerie today. The air is different." Reina kept walking and saw a huge group of crows flying over her. She thought it was a bad omen and started running. She ended up at a yakiniku place that was supposed to be closed for holiday, but ended up being open anyway. So thanks to the crows she was able to eat yakiniku.

For Ai-chan, it's not so much a actual animal, but she doesn't like scales. She doesn't hate them, just doesn't want to touch them. When she goes to aquariums, she likes looking at things like sea snakes and eels. But if asked to touch them, she won't do it.

Ai-chan mentions "doctor fish" [cleaning fishes that eat dead skin, allowing new skin to grow; there's a spa that opened in Hakone in 2006 where doctor fish are used]. Reina wants to totally try it but Ai-chan hates the idea of it.

Theme - Snow

Since Ai-chan's from the north, she gets a lot of snow. Sayu asks (and messes up) if it's usually heavy snowfall. Ai-chan answers that it is sometimes and asks Sayu how it is in Yamaguchi prefecture. It's not that uncommon and this past winter, it really snowed in her hometown. When she was going back home, it only started to snow a little on the way, but her grandfather and grandmother said that it was really snowing hard in Yamaguchi.

Ai-chan says that she hates shovelling snow since she gets all cold and wet. Sayu's never had to do it so she's anxious to try. Ai-chan reiterates it's not any fun at all but that building snowmen and having snowball fights is. Sayu's sister made a small snowman but it started to melt so she put it in the freezer in their kitchen. It still melted and made a mess on the floor so their mom got mad. Sayu said she was an idiot for bringing it in the house in the first place.

Sayu wants to talk about Ai-chan.

Sayu: The fans might know this already but, you're really so perfect while doing a live performance.
Ai-chan: Why?
Sayu: You make so many mistakes in the rehearsals.
Ai-chan: HAHAHA! I do!!
Sayu: Like...when we do the switches, it's really apparent. Or when you hit your marks when you're supposed to. You do mess up while talking but, like you're singing and dancing is spot on; however, during rehearsals you're messing up everywhere.
Ai-chan: I try to give off the image that I'm doing everything right. Since I do make so many mistakes, it's hard for me to remember them all...especially since I'm having so much fun while doing it.

Sayu says she's the type that can't choose her words properly. At times, she'll speak as soon as she thinks, but other times she can't think of anything and just do nothing. When she was in elementary school, her and her teacher were playing dodgeball. Sayu was having so much fun that she didn't know what she was doing. Her teacher got pretty upset. Ai-chan says that Sayu's manager gets pretty upset with her too.

Letter from Moyai-san asks, "Since it's been so cold lately, I can't sleep. I'm having to use a heater since my feet are so cold. Is there anything else that I can use to sleep better? By the way, who falls asleep the easiest? Is there anyone that is able to sleep just about anywhere?"

Both girls agree this year has been really cold. Since Sayu is sensitive to cold, it really bothers her. But she also sweats a lot so it's kinda weird. Both girls hate using a heater since it makes the air so dry. The air in winter is pretty dry in Tokyo so the girls' lips get chapped easily.

Ai-chan says Sayu can fall asleep pretty easily just about anywhere. Sayu says that one time she fell asleep for so long, she was supposed to meet someone and that person ended up waiting for her.

Strawberries are becoming more and more popular. Sayu says that stawberries automatically equal Ai-chan. She gets a lot of them for her birthday and as gifts. Ai-chan's been liking apples lately it seems. Reminds Sayu that the Apple logo is quite cute (orz). Ai-chan put one of Apple logo stickers that she got with her Iphone on her other phone which, according to other people, was weird.

Both girls have noticed that there seem to be a lot of idols that like strawberries...such as S/mileage's Kannon-chan, and Mitsui Aika. Sayu says it's like you HAVE to say you like strawberries.

Ai-chan says Sayu's really bad at monomane. Sayu admits she's the worst when she does a show with no script. During the MCs, she's okay since her fans support her, even if she says something stupid. But during a scriptless live show, she keeps thinking about what she should say so she gets all flustered. Tsuji-chan has worked on shows like that and Sayu says she's great at it. She even said Tsuji thinks scripted shows are boring.

Letter from Sacchin-san; "I can't organize my make-up very well since I can't throw anything away. Who among Morning Musume is the best at organizing? Who's the worst?"

Sayu says Ai-chan is the worst since she doesn't throw anything away. Ai-chan agrees since she doesn't throw ANYTHING away. Sayu understands how she feels. Sayu has make-up that's over a year old but she won't throw it away since she thinks she'll use it eventually. Make-up artists use it on several different people so it gets used up pretty fast...but the girl's just use it on themselves so it stays awhile. Both girls say that they give whatever they don't like to their sisters. Sayu wants Ai-chan's make-up since she thinks it will be cute.

Theme - Colds

Apparently, since she has joined MM, she's become stronger against colds. She hasn't been getting them as frequently. The one member who is the most susceptible is Risa. During one of their rehearsals for a concert, Gaki-san had a fever of over 40 Celsius but she still finished. Ai-chan was pretty amazed at her...since she was 13 at the time.

The members often get small headaches or sniffles and they wonder if they are coming down with something. Regardless, Ai-chan always washes her hands after everything she touches. Her mom used to call her araiguma (racoon) [tl. "arai" from arau - to wash and "guma" from kuma - bear]. Washing hands is always important especially when you're sick.

Since she's alone, she'll talk about something she's liked recently...specifically the movie "Burlesque."

Ai-chan first started getting into Christina when she watched her cameo in Beverly Hills, 90210 back in 1999. She thought Christina had a amazing voice so she bought her CD. It was Ai-chan's first time she saw a young American singer do other things like acting.

Listener congrats her on her musical Dance of the Vampire, and asks what her thoughts were when she was asked to perform in it. When they first talked to her about it, she was so happy she cried. Since she goes to see plays regularly, she had always dreamed about doing it herself but wasn't sure she could. She finds it amazing now that she'll be able to do the same work that Takadzuka does.

Her and her manager went to see the play before. She loved it since she likes vampires and she felt so happy that she's apart of it now. She's feeling the pressure now but will of course do her best.

Super fast. January's already over and she can't believe Valentine's Day is coming up. There's a lot of members and staff to give stuff to and Ai-chan usually makes something instead of buying. Because she's busy (or lazy) she ends up baking sweets the night before so she usually doesn't sleep. She makes cupcakes or chocolates with almonds. She doesn't plan on what to make beforehand so she's usually pretty stressed.

- Suzuki Kanon - nicknamed Zukki; much like LinLin; very my-pace; is bloodtype B so has a positive outlook of the world; during the H!P con in Kobe, there was a whiteboard that had "Fairy Suzuki" written on it. Everyone was like "What is this??" Kanon replied, "Fairy is my thing." Ai-chan thinks she's quite funny;
- Fukumura Mizuki - nicknamed Fuku-chan; since Fuku-chan is the oldest of the four, Ai-chan wonders if it's hard for her; Ai-chan was the oldest of the Gokkies, so she thinks Fuku-chan will have similar experiences; Fuku-chan should be okay since she's been around H!P longer than the new members; gives off a mature young-lady character;

Aika: My eyes open up around 8am.
Ai-chan: That's really amazing. But it seems pretty healthy for you to be in a rhythm like that.

Since they are in Morning Musume, they're schedules are never set. Everyone's everywhere all the time so Ai-chan thinks it's good that Aika has a set time to wake up. Like with concerts and musicals, each member's schedule is never the same. Aika says that it's like a habit for her to get up and cook something since she's hungry.

Ai-chan doesn't even think about that. She puts up her futon then makes toast.

She then jokingly says Aika should make something for Ai-chan since she's a kouhai.

Ai-chan: You were by yourself when you joined right? You were the only kouhai. So it was kind of unique right? But I just kept thinking, "I guess it's okay she hasn't realized it yet, but...why hasn't she said anything? What's up with this girl?"

Ai-chan has noticed that Aika has changed much since she entered. There was some uniqueness with JunJun and LinLin since they were from China, but unfortunately they didn't stay long. With the new members coming in, Ai-chan expects even more change within MM and from Aika since she has a new role as sempai.

When they were doing introductions to the the 9th gen, Aika was super-polite but kinda weird to them at the same time. Ai-chan kept thinking if there was something wrong with her.

Letter from Dossan-san. School has started, and the concerts with Berryz Koubo and C-ute are over. How was it? Did you guys talk with each other a lot?

Aika is good friends with Hagiwara Mai-chan but they can't meet up a lot since they're in school. During the concerts, they often went to each other's dressing room to hang out.

Ai-chan: Ya, and you're not that far apart in age right?
Aika: Right! But you know, Hagiwara is...
Ai-chan: Hagiwara? First time I've heard that! It's always just Mai! That's the first time I've heard her called Hagiwara!
Aika: Well there's about 3-4 years difference, but it doesn't really seem like it. Doesn't feel like she's 3-4 grades behind me.

Ai-chan feels the same. She is the oldest but doesn't get a chance to watch the younger members grow. So during the H!P concerts, she sees everyone and she's like, "Oh so they're like this now!" It's a good motivator for her to make sure everyone in MM is doing they're best.

Ai-chan: Isn't Okai-chan so funny? She always comes into our dressing room to hang out. And she always asks you to do her hair for her.
Aika: Ya, she always asks me to.
Ai-chan: And the other day, she brought in onions to our dressing room. She kept asking us to taste it and she had it in this huge Tupperware...how many did she have? Like 4 or 5?
Aika: 3 or 4 maybe?
Ai-chan: And when she came in, she was like "Is it okay if I bring this? Oh wait I can bring some more!" And I was like, "How many does she have!?"
Aika: I was glad she let us taste some. They were really good.

Aika: Doesn't it? But it was when he became lost in the movie...in the first one. When Stitch was being mean to Lilo and she started to dislike him, he left their house at night. And then he kinda got lost, so that's the impression I did.
Ai-chan: Ya, no clue.

Aika: Ooooooooooiiiiiiii! Last week...Niigaki-san! Niigaki-san impersonated Maruko-chan right?
Ai-chan: Ah yes, she certainly did do Maruko-chan. In fact, she did many.

Ai-chan: But really...Aika...gets in such a bad mood when it comes to food. You're usually such a good kouhai with everything else, like "Would you like some tea?" or you do something for us sempais. But when it comes to food...you're all like "Where the hell is it!" or "Why are we not eating right now!"
Aika: No way! But I do try to be good about it. And I really love to eat, and if I get really hungry, I keep setting a certain time for it.
Ai-chan: Ah, like what time you should eat what...
Aika: Right, like if it's only a little past 8pm or something, I consider it late and I get in a bad mood. Also, if I don't make my lunch for the day I get upset too.
Ai-chan: Ya that's so like you. If we think you're even the tiniest bit upset...we know it's about food.

Ai-chan: Oh yeah, and when we did that show in Shanghai, we were supposed to go out to eat but we never decided when or where. But we were like, "Oh since we're going out tonight we should hold off until then." and you kept saying that we need to hurry up and decide.
Aika: Yes I did.
Ai-chan: Hahaha! Ya, we were saying, "Oh man, Aika's mad already. Let's hurry and get our schedules."

Ai-chan: So back on topic...
Aika: Right, more than food, I like really nice scenery.
Ai-chan: Oh ya you do right? You're often taking scenic pictures. Like when we were in Hawaii for the FC tour, you were always taking pics of the sky and scenery. That sky was really pretty.
Aika: Ya and the night sky was so pretty too. I totally love scenery.

So, I've got something important to say. It was announced
earlier this month that at the end of the Morning Musume's fall
tour, I will be graduating. When it was announced, I kinda had
this strange feeling. Like "Ah, I'm graduating." It was like, I
couldn't picture myself without Morning Musume.

Of course I had that sensation of isolation, but then I realized
I still had a lot of time left until graduation...which makes me
want to work harder to get Morning Musume's new style and the
new members ready.

And with the new members, they had just joined pretty recently
so I feel like I really have to support and teach them. So I for
sure will do my best.

This week, I've brought the same person from last week, Niigaki
Risa.

Morning Musume - Bravo!

Five Pleasures Corner:
Dice Talk (same as last week)

Topic for this week is Monomane. Risa does two: an impression of
Chibi Maruko-chan (which Ai-chan has no clue about), and an
passable impression of the Disney character Stitch. Ai-chan
still doesn't get it, so Risa asks her to do it.

Ai-chan: No way! Aaaaaahhhhh!
Risa: That was the closest one yet.

Ai-chan then talks about how Stitch is really popular with the
girls and that he resembles a cute cockroach (orly?). Risa
disagrees.

Risa then does impressions of the characters Fujiki Shigeru
and Nagasawa Kimio from Chibi Maruko-chan. Again, Ai-chan has no
clue what she's doing. Risa says that if she watches the anime,

Savannah-san asks, "I've always been shy, especially in public, but when it's just me and another person, I don't know what to do or say. Please tell me what to do in these situations."

Risa says that she should be gung-ho about it regardless of how she feels. Ai-chan wonders what would be a good example of a situation...like a friend of yours brings you to meet another friend, and your friend goes to the bathroom so you end up alone with the other person. Then what?

Risa: "Oh hey! Are you gonna eat this gummy?"
Ai-chan: A gummy!?
Risa: "Hmmm, this one's kinda hard to chew. Do you like the hard ones or the softer ones? The hard ones? Ah, ya...the hard ones are pretty good." Something like that.
Ai-chan: What the heck was that!?

Risa then suggests that if both of them have Iphones, they could talk to each other about the different apps. Basically just start talking and ask questions to see what the other person likes. Then build on it to keep the conversation going.

Ai-chan wants to try the gummy method and Risa agrees that Savannah-san should do it.

Ai-chan asks to come out and support their winter concerts in Aichi and Kobe.

2011.01.06 InterFM [FIVE STARS] Translations

So, I decided to start off the New Year being a little more active with translating. Reasons are 1) a lot of you guys keep asking me "where the hell did you go?" and 2) my huge run of 12 hours a day 6 days a week at work is pretty much over. Now it's just 10 hours a day 6 days a week. Trust me, it's a world of difference.

And since Lovely is starting out with a new show, maybe I can stick with it and do a weekly translation of it...maybe (￣∀￣)

We'll see if how it goes. Ichigo Ichie went pretty well so hopefully this will too. (*^-’)b

On to the show:

2011 came up so fast didn't it!? I joined MM in 2001...so it's been a sweet 10 years. I'll continue to do my best. So the theme for this week is "New Year's"...perfect isn't it?

My aspiriti...aspira...AAAUUGHH!! My aspirations for 2011... (man, I'm like this all the time!)...hmmm, last year I turned 24, and this year I'll be 25...it's not like I'm fixated on it or hate it or anything, hahahaha!!
Well, I am interested in it but the fans are really worrying about me. "You'll be fine Ai-chan!" or "Do what you want this year...no need to change anything!"

But you know, every year we have those concert T-shits right? They have our ages on it!! And the year that they made them, for example 19 or 18 years old, when I saw them, I had no idea what to say or how to feel. It wasn't like I didn't like them at the time, but all I could say was "I'm sorry."

Thursday's Five Pleasures Corner:

Gaki-san comes in and says she was lonely doing the last Monday show, but feels better now that she's doing the show with Ai-chan. Ai-chan specifically asked that Risa be on the show. Gaki-san then says that she knew she would ask since Ai-chan doesn't like doing shows by herself.

Ai-chan introduces her die so that they can choose what topics to talk about. Risa has a good laugh at Ai-chan's accent when she says "saikoro" (die).

First talk - Imadakara iimasu ("I can say it now")

Instead of it being she couldn't say something before, Risa has something that she wants to say now.

Risa: Takahashi Ai. Don't wear huge rings.
Ai-chan: Huh?
Risa: You rings right? They're like ridiculously huge! It's cute but...
Ai-chan: It is cute right?
Risa: ...but the time you wear them you're always hitting people.
Ai-chan: Ah, no problem then. I'll just switch to my left hand.
Risa: That's not the point. You know, Tanaka Reina always says, "Well whatever. Can't help it." but when you hit people, it hurts us but you don't even realize it.
Ai-chan: Wow really? I thought I was being careful...
Risa: No you don't. You even did it yesterday.
Ai-chan: I certinaly did not!
Risa: Did...did...did...
Ai-chan: DID NOT!

Gaki-san says that before Ai-chan was just wearing rings to be fashionable but lately she gets really fired up about wearing them...like the same level as her love of Big Bang or G-DRAGON.
And since Ai-chan doesn't have sempais to talk to her about it, it falls to Risa to scold her sometimes.

Second Talk - Watashi no Baka ("My stupidness")

Gaki-san's stupidness:
Thinking you lost something but it's actually in your hand. For example, her phone. She was asking her family to look for it, when her sister said "You're holding it."

She's certain that it happens a lot to everyone. Like looking for sunglasses when they're actually on top of your head.

For Ai-chan, when she and her family go traveling, her mom's usually the one being stupid. Like at the hotel, everyone's getting they're suitcases out but her mom's being really slow. So Ai-chan yells out, "Hurry up! We've got to go!" Her mom apologizes and comes out still wearing her room slippers.

Listener Letters:

First letter asks how do they feel about the new members joining.
Risa says that they've experienced this feeling three different times (Ai-chan actually says 3.5...Rokkies, Koharu, Aika then JunJun/LinLin).

They seem to have experienced more graduations then new members joining. Both of them agree new members joining is better since it's a more happy time.
With the Rokkies joining it was different since it was the first time they had kouhais. Both of them were a little uneasy about it.

With Aika joining they really felt the age difference so it was kind of like "I have to teach her this" kind of feeling. With Jun/Lin, it was a little easier since they were closer in age.

Gaki-san will be back next week!

Vacation and being flatlined from the flu doesn't really help.

I was going through my old HD and came across this little OG Momusu discovery:

Yep. That's Nakazawa and Ishikawa on the wall. I'm speculating that because it's a "Let's learn Japanese" show that they needed something Japanese-y up there. Or maybe they're fans? No idea.

Anyway, back in 2008 I was looking around for some vids to improve my Japanese and I found this series. More for the beginner so it didn't help me but I thought the topics were funny.

Oh, and the guy George annoys the hell out of me for some reason. Not really sure why though.

I'll be back to subbing (hopefully) soon so be on the lookout.

So I thought I'd do something a more recent.

Interestingly, my wife watched this first and told me about it. She said Ariyoshi's new nickname was pretty funny.
(No she's not a S/mileage fan but she had nothing better to watch in the morning...)

S/mileage (minus Ogawa Saki) promote their new single "Bijin Mama" and share some pre-debut photos.

Show is MC'ed by Masuda Keisuke (he appeared in the 2007.02.18 Hello!Morning World Pucchi Games) who pretty much makes an idiot of himself but gets some laughs from the girls.

Also as guest is Ariyoshi Hiroiki (he also appeared on H!M World Pucchi Games the week after Masuda) who's known for his sharp tongue and giving nicknames to other talents.

At the end, Yuukarin gives him a suitable nickname even though she doesn't know exactly how applicable it really is lol.

Since I am solo, I'm doing all of the translating, timing and typesetting for each vid I do (except for the karaoke one). My question to you guys is, how do they look?

Are they readable? Do the lines go too fast? Anything that doesn't need to be there?

I'm asking because I'd like to know. I want to be a better fansubber and improve my work, but I can't fix what I don't know.

So I'd really appreciate some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. :)

So this was a no-brainer.
MM's in Hawaii...I live in Hawaii...makes sense right?

I liked this ep since MM's one requirement is to take pictures of themselves having fun. No food, no weird surprises and no boring sight-seeing stuff (well, the fishing part was maybe a little boring).

It teases you at the beginning with "extra footage of the girls in swimsuits!" but ya know, it wasn't what I expected. Oh well. I at least got to see three of my favorites in them so it wasn't a total loss. ^_^

S/mileage single「夢見る１５歳」on sale 5/26

Finally, they had their major debut.
With 4 Indies singles already out, this single
marks their 5th one and major debut!

It feels like it's been slow-going,
but now it's like, "Huh!? Already!??"

Even though it felt slow, it's been
5 years 10 months since the girls joined
H!P.

As their name, S/mileage, implies,
they've been going forward with the
help of smiles across the country.

The girls' debut song 「Yume Miru 15sai」
is a change from Indies-style to a dance tune.
Putting the melody in a minor key completes it.

A girl being 15 years old,
there's a lot of dreams in her heart.
「I want to do that, I want to do this...」

There may be so many things she wants to do,
but the reality is, she sits in her single-room
each day and spends her time listening to music.

That feeling of a girl wanting to shout out
her dreams, it permeates the lyrics in this song.

The costumes are from the Indies-era
but with the feeling of nonchalantly
fussing over it. Also, the theme for them
is 「Costumes with a matching emblem」.

In this case, the emblem is not too large
or small but it emphasizes their spirits
pretty well so I like it.

It's not a party dress, but at the same time
not too casual. The jacket emphasizes their
boldness along with the skirt.
Then, the high boots with the small heel works
just right to complete the entire thing.

Leader DAWA (Wada Ayaka) has really showed
herself as an individual. These days she's
shown nothing but an unbreakable character.
She has something that won't let her lose to
someone like Satoda or Suzanne. I want to tell
her don't ever lose that and keep moving forward.

Behind Yuukarin's (Maeda Yuuka) fair-skin and
sweet disposition, lies a strong will and a lot
of determination.
The angel Maeda and devil Maeda are co-existing
quite nicely, more that I thought.
But there could be a weak side that shows up occasionally.
Her voice is quite characteristic of the S/mileage
sound, so I want to take care of it.

For Kanyon (Fukuda Kanon), well she's the shortest,
and since elementary school she's been old-lady-
sounding Kanyon.
Well, that's like being the behind-the-scenes
chairman. No, like a secret leader of juvenile
deliquents so to speak.
Nonetheless, she has a real gift for understanding
people's feelings. She's the one I've come to
depend on.
Occasionally, she'll talk too long or digress too
much, but nothing else that shows she's immature.
She could use some more instruction for her singing,
but her confidence is obviously very high.

Sakichii (Ogawa Saki) is the youngest of the group
but, she's the one member with the most stable
singing voice.
She's still a little insecure about her falsetto
but, that insecurity makes up her individuality.
With her increasing interest in music, I think
from now on she's gonna challenge herself to
improve.
She's got some pretty amazing sides to her...
she loves to talk and her tsukkomi's not bad at all.

So, saying all that, it looks like I've seen a lot
from them, but in all likelihood, I'm sure there's
many more things I haven't.
Yep, when I look at their personalities
again later on, I'm sure I'll be seeing something
completely different.

Well, whatever comes, I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun.

『Fankora!』 Request!!!

Wow, thank you thank you.
We'll start July 18th in Nagoya.
Before the deadline comes for
the Summer H!P Concert's song request,
I wanted to give a quick status report,
we've collected more than 20,000 requests!!

Wow, I'm so thankful!

I thought, "I'd really like to
respond to everyone's requests!" so

the results,

On top of that, the afternoon and

In all honesty, the members, staff

Summer Haro-!!

So, the 『Hello！Project 2010 SUMMER～Fankora!～』
will start up 7/18, and a few days ago
I wrote on the blog 「Looks like there will be a
total of 8 different setlists for the live performances!」

So let's put that into practice!

This time, we really got a lot of requests,
and I want to show a lot of different songs,
so with the staff's help, I'll have to sort
the requests by unit, shuffle unit and popularity,
plus join them together so that it all runs
smoothly.
So, for the outcome to be like that,
for each performance, about half the songs
will be different from the others.
When I conveyed that to the staff, they
said, "Huh~!?"
but, to fufill my dream, they're making
arrangements even as I type.

Hmmm...
It's gonna be quite a struggle to do the
rehearsals but, I hope at each venue
will be fresh and exciting!!

So...

I've been addicted to this song for a while. Looking around, I never saw a subbed version of it (nor any translations) anywhere.

So...

I went ahead and translated it. Then asked Mattthecat what was her best performance of it. We both agreed the Collabo Labo version with the guitar and stand-up bass was awesome. Matt was kind enough to do a quick encode of it for me.

But...

Problem! I'm not a karaoke timer or typesetter o.0
Solution? Ask around for help =D

And...

BexXz came through in spades. My noob first attempt was beautifully re-done into this piece of pure awesomeness. Many thanks to Firren as well for doing the final encode.

Murakami's birthday was yesterday. Murakami thinks the girls came just for him as a special present. Aya gave him golf balls that smell like peppermint. Murakami thanks her and says that he doesn't get to smell peppermint that much so he was really happy.

Presents from Takahashi and Michishige: golf balls but with tuna (or something that smells similar) inside. For cooking only and not to be hit of course. Sanma then starts talking about how "nice" a gift it is.

Aya: The smell has nothing to do with it. Sanma shouldn't be so quick to insult it. They're not giving it to you!
Sanma: Hey! That's...
Aya: We're showing how much we care!
Sanma: That's so selfish. It's not like I'm smelling you guys or anything! I was just seeing what the presents were!
Murakami: They're my presents anyway! Who told you to look!? It's like I'm the one being insulted here!

Aya can't understand why something like that was even created.

Sanma: Matsuura's just terrible. Giving him something that smells so strong...
Aya: Don't tell me you're actually going to use those? I'd be like "Oh man, what if someone sees me with this!?"
Murakami: Jeez, I'm sorry for starting all of this.
Sanma: It's not your fault. [TakaShige's] just so lame...
TakaShige: Sorry...

~Opening Talk~

It's been 10 years since Aya debuted. She was about the same age as Tsuji.

Sanma: Ya I remember when you were like that, always eating food and messing around when you were supposed to be working.
Aya: I never did that! Man, he's really horrible today.

Right now, Matsuura's feels like a mother to TakaShige. Shouji says it must be that she's ready to have kids. Aya says she feels jealous when mothers and their kids are out playing.

But she doesn't know when she'll get married yet. Sanma says it's not in her DNA and compares her to the equivalent of "an old lady living with cats."

Sanma says he'll find a man for her which elicits a lot of various outbursts ranging from "Hell no!" to "What a idiot..." (lol). Sanma says he could play match-maker for her but Aya says he has no luck with himself much less doing it for anyone else.

The conversation then steers to Aya somehow (according to Sanma) looking like the AV actress, Yoshizawa Akiho. Sanma asks that if Aya found her son's porn what would she do. Aya says she'd hate the fact that he was hiding it, more than him actually having it. [This is not to say she's in favor of porn, just that she wouldn't like him hiding stuff from her.]

~Listeners mail corner~

Listener thinks Ai-chan's "Fashionable" blog and Sayu's blog are great since it keeps the fans updated of what they're wearing. Also, they really know how to appeal to the boys.

Sanma asks Ai-chan about her entry on her "Blue, Sky-blue" Converse sneakers. Ai-chan said it was just the first thing she thought of and decided to write about it.

TakaShige call Aya out on not updating her blog. She said at the beginning she really wanted to do it and was excited about it. But now...

Aya: I have no idea what to write about. When I do want to write something, it's like "Will they like this?"

She doesn't want it to turn into a food blog since she hates it when other bloggers do that. It's like, "So what?" kinda...

Aya says she has nothing to write that will be interesting enough to read. Recently [recently? lol] Ai-chan commented on one of her entries saying, "What are you doing!? Write something better!"

Aya also thinks it's weird that people update like 10 times a day about what they ate, did, etc...
Aya says it strange that they do that much just in one day. Sayu replies that she's happy to tell everyone exactly what she did as many times as she can. Aya can't believe it.

Aya then asks if Sayu had a boyfriend, is she the type to ask him what he's doing at every minute of every day? Sayu doesn't know if that's how she would be but she doesn't think so.
Sanma says if the boyfriend doesn't know that about Sayu, he might not be a boyfriend for very long.

[This next part I couldn't hear really well so sorry for that. Sanma asks Aya why she doesn't like to update very often. Aya replies that she doesn't feel the need to let everyone know about it. Then Sanma says she's the type of person who...something. It elicits a lot of "Chigau!" from everyone. Again sorry.]

Ai-chan says lately she hasn't been stammering as much as before. Sanma asks if Aya's had that problem at concerts. She hasn't but she said her dad stammers way too much and she gets mad when he does.

So I just finished watching the 20100306 Sanma no Manma episoded that was subbed, quite nicely, by N!N. You can snag it here. After seeing the confusion with ストーヴ it got me thinking about how some borrowed words have quite a different meaning.

Having studied Japanese for so long, I guess my brain differentiates between them pretty well. Maybe it has to do with them being pronounced Japanese-style? I don't know. But I do know that sometimes, my brain flips on me.

A nice example is when my wife said we have to take a visiting カメラマン out to eat. I'll give a quick run-down of how our conversation in Japanese went (in English):

Wife: Hey, remember we're taking that カメラマン to dinner Sunday.
Me: Oh right. Ya I remember. What station does he work for?
Wife: Huh? What do you mean, "station"?
Me: Wait, wha-? Oh yeah. Your "cameraman" means photographer.
Wife: What? "My cameraman?"
Me: Nevermind...

What followed was a steady stream of colorful "idiot/stupid" words, mostly in her dialect.

Fun stuff...really.

I like the examples from here, especially the ジュース (I don't even know how many times that's screwed me up).

「Little Shop of Horrors」

I went to check out Abe Natsumi's
play, Little Shop of Horrors.
It's got some comedy along with the
horror which makes for a unique musical.

But you can pick exactly the comedic parts
and the horror parts. Mystery mystery.

If I remember correctly, Abe started doing
theater in 2008.
I planned on going then, but one of my kids
got a really high fever, so I couldn't.
This time, the play is different, so I couldn't go
but it was still quite enjoyable.

The whole time I was feeling 「She's like my student, will she be okay?」
or 「Can she make it?」, so I was
really worried but,
when I saw the musical, it was like
「Ya, she's really grown-up」 and 「As expected of Abe!」.

Abe turned out to a fine woman. I was really moved.

After I went to the dressing room
to give her and her instructor a lot
of good positive comments, but I got so
embarrassed I couldn't say them...

But, she really sang so well, and had
good facial expressions, as well as
appearing with so many friends.

Oh, I also bumped into DAIGO, and
also Bitou Isao whom I'm very grateful
for his help. I was quite happy!

Been 15 years...time flies doesn't it.

Summer Hello-!

Well, this year's Summer Hello!Project concert has started!!!

I believe this marks the 10th year for it,
so this year I had a little idea,
that I'd like the fans to participate as well,
and to have the requests of the fans granted!!

The theme is
「I really want to dance! I really want to listen!」.

For this year's concert, I wanted everyone
to let me know what songs you really like
to dance to and what songs you really want
to hear no matter what!

So I thought it would be great to
have a collaboration concert that everyone
helped decide and organize!

So, the concert title was changed to
「H!P 2010 SUMMER ~Fan Collaboration!~」

℃-ute Single「キャンパスライフ～生まれて来てよかった～」on sale 4/28

I tried my best to create a bright and cheerful song .
I wanted to make something not just cheerful, but also really positive
emotionally and I think this song is it.

When you say "Campus Life" usually an image of
of a college student comes to mind,
and I think with these girls, it's kind of over-reaching a little,
but nonetheless, Yajima's 18 already.
It wouldn't be a exaggeration to call her a junior college student.

The girls sing this song with a very care-free feeling.

The beat for it is right in between medium and upbeat.

For this song, after we recorded the downtrack,
we actually used a Fairchild compressor to bring out the
mood more, and I really think it turned out nicely.

To make the song stronger, we were trying different
maskings of the sounds, yet it threw the balance off,
so we were desperately trying to get it right before the release.

Because of that, the beat is between medium and upbeat,
and the speed may seem a little strange when you listen.

Yajima has recently increased her level of singing,
and she now seems like she's able to sing many different types of songs.
Suzuki's still one of the top singers in H!P, and the punch she delivers
in this song is GOOD!
Compared to her vibrato skills, Okai's rhythm is still weak, however
her power has noticeably improved.
In this song, the main character has this huge smile. Think of Nakajima when you listen.
I think this song works well with her naturally bright personality.
Hagiwara's voice has settled down to something very adult.
Her expressiveness has really grown!

Berryz Koubou！

So, yesterday, Berryz Koubou's summer live tour started!
Title is 「Berryz Koubou Concert Tour ー 2010 Shoka 〜Umi no Ie Osakebi House〜」

Their practice at the venue finished rather well,

The actual performance!

Mixing songs off the new album and
their current popular single,
it certainly gave the stage a summertime feeling.

The staff, members and the fans all come together
as one, with a single purpose.

And when the curtain lifted for the actual performance,
all of the fans cheering was so encouraging,
the concert truly became a single entity.

After this, I'll give you guys detailed updates of the tour.
The main point of this concert was,
even the staff got caught up in the summer feeling
and wore aloha shirts,
and even though they were working the concert,
it was still very fun to see them like that!!!

Went to the "Kids Cheer" tournament
at the Kameido Sun Street,
and at that time my fellow chairperson

Mano S/mileage Live

Yesterday, the Mano S/mileage joint live performance 「Special Joint 2010 Spring ～Kansha Mankai! Mano Erina 2 Shuunen Totsunyuu ＆ S/mileage Major Debut he Sakura Sake! Live」 started off with a huge success.

Along with the announcement of Mano's LA event in the summer,

and with the support of all the fans in helping with the hugely successful mosaic from the S/mileage 10,000 smiles campaign, we've set S/mileage's debut single 「Yume Miru 15sai」for 5/26.

The live itself from the Shibuya CC Lemon Hall was very exciting.

I thought it turned out very good.

During the afternoon performance, I was also at the venue to
convey to the fans the confirmation of their debut, and without
even thinking about it, I ended up on stage.

If I remember correctly, this is the first time I've done that
in the 12 year Hello! history.

At any rate, to Mano and S/mileage...

Shibuya C.C. Lemon Hall

So, a little report from ℃‐ｕｔｅ's concert yesterday at the Shibuya C.C. Lemon Hall.

After watching the March rehearsals, the girls went on their tour but,
on the tour, you can see how much they've trained.

They've really grown.

Suzuki's song has become really strong.
She's really improved that singing voice.
Yajima's song as well,
and her dance has become even sharper.
Even though Okai's hair has changed,
she still retains her vibrato.
And Nakajima's song as well is constant throughout,
but her presentation of the song in different variations
has certainly increased.
Hagiwara's voice has certainly become more adult.
Previously, she was trying to rid herself of her child-like voice.

This time the girls are giving it their all for these performances.

The remaining performance should be a lot of fun!
Everyone, please come and have fun!

voices, as well as the members before they go on stage.

Starts off with comments about doing the concert in her hometown where she cried. Very thankful and happy that she was able to do it.

Recommendation this week is a Takarazuka work from the Yuki group The Dawn at Solferino. She went with a friend but she was still jet-lagged from Hawaii so she was barely awake when it started.

Listener's requests:
Fan: Does Ai-chan sing different people's song...like from an anime or something? Please sing something.

Her sister is in to Evangelion right now so she sings that sometimes. Others are Sailor Moon and Marmalade Boy. She listens to a lot of foreign songs but she doesn't feel like she wants to sing them.

Fan: If Ai-chan starts her stage life, I'm certain you'll do great.

Ai-chan wants to be a big stage star and will continue to study and try her best.

Listener's corner:
Since Ai-chan did her show with female-only, what would she do if it was male-only?

Ai-chan: If there were a lot of guys there, I'd like to try flirting with them!

She'd want to try out being a host and pick up girls but she said she'd probably end up stuttering and lose them.

What's the most important dream Ai-chan has?

To do her best in Morning Musume and eventually in Takarazuka as well.

English conversation this week, "I'll be with my family" which is more of her answer to the question "What would you do if the world ends tomorrow?" Ai-chan wouldn't mind if the world ends while she's doing a concert though.

On the plane ride back from Hawaii, the movie they were showing was "2012" which Ai-chan was scared to watch. She ended up watching it anyway and it reminded her to be more eco-friendly.

Guesses as number 3 Onna ga Medatte Naze Ikenai...which is wrong. Listener guesses Okii Hitomi which Ai-chan hears so much excitement for during the concerts (she's off-stage at the time). She then says whatever she likes isn't always what everyone else likes.

Apparently it's been Ai-chan's dream to speak in front of a ladies-only crowd. So the staff granted her request.

I particularly liked the part where she just realized it was female-only...

Ai-chan: But I'm really happy!

Ai-chan: I didn't hear about this at all! I had no idea they would do that!...
But I've repeatedly asked to do a female-only show...

At a recent Medatte event, it was the first time it was female-only which Ai-chan felt really comfortable with. Many thanks from Lovely to the staff for arranging it.

It's okay to say Halloween season, Christmas season, etc...

She was nervous about doing the last show but says she feels like she speaks better because of Ichigo Ichie.

- Korean language
English grammar is kinda the same as Japanese so Japanese people feel better with it. Korean is different (is it?) so Gaki-san said stick with English.

- Doing a play outside of H!P
Regularly sees musicals and plays and wants to do one. Wants to finish Morning Musume first before anything else.

3/27/2010 Morning Musume Fan Club mini-concert

So this will be my take on the concert. You can read a very detailed account of it over at Hyakupa courtesy of turbos86.

So, this being my third time that I've gotten a chance to HEAR the mini-concert, I wanted this year to be the time I actually SEE them. Fortune smiled upon me when I heard that the concert was at UH. Yay :)

Got off work and headed over there, thankfully no heavy traffic. When I got near enough to start hearing them, they were ending Love & Peace HERO ga Yattekita. I had no idea how long the concert had been going but I know I needed to get in and get a better view.

The following are my three attempts gaining entrance:

1) Asking politely. I pretended I was a member and lost my FC badge and missed the tour bus to the concert. I can pass for Japanese pretty well if I keep my sunglasses on (green eyes). So, I politely asked the staff if I could get in...as Mr. Kai Morikawa, FC member (lol). Security was pretty strict so the staff lady was like, "No badge, no admittance." Also, my fatal mistake... Japanese don't wear dark sunglasses.

2) Hopping the fence. By that time, Shabondama was halfway done so I headed to a another gate, this time with no security. Gate's not too high and there's no barbed wire at the top so I took my chance. There's a small hallway that leads to the second level seating so my plan was to stay hidden in there and enjoy the show. I topped the fence and was ready to jump down when a different security guy saw me and asked what I was doing. "My stupid friend threw my phone up on the third level. I was gonna try and hop the rail to grab it." Security said I needed to wait behind the fence and he'll look for it and throw it down to me. Of course no phone up there so I just said my friend probably still had it.

Shabondama was over and they started up Ai Araba It's All Right so decided not to push my luck and enjoyed the rest of the concert. I was clapping so hard through fence that my arms got cut up. Battlescars!

When the girls did the final comments I knew it was over but then the staff guy said the handshake event was about to start and if anyone needed to use the bathroom, to do so now...and to hurry. Chance? No. UH security and FC staff were herding them so didn't try it.

The handshake took a while to get everyone in line and to the girls so there was plenty of wait time. Thinking I could sneak down to the grounds behind the stage, I went to the back gate and searched for a way down (attempt #3). Kinda high fence so I was gonna snag a nearby wheelbarrow and be all MacGuyver like. Saving me probably a lot of embarrassment, sferris texted me to meet up with them since they were done.

Waited until all of the picture taking was done (do you seriously want to take pics with the sound guy?) then the girls started heading back to the van. Now or never. All of us yelled out REINA-SAMA!! and ALL of the girls looked! Was gonna shout out AI-CHAN! but being next to turbos with his light sabers, I decided against it and was happy to get a BYE-BYE! and a wave. Damn she was cute!

Even though I couldn't get in and get close, I got to actually SEE a Morning Musume concert AND was noticed by Ai-chan. Overall, a very good experience. :)

I totally condensed it and picked out the more funny parts regarding the girls.

Sanma starts off by introducing the girls as from France. Comments on Aya's short hair saying it reminds him of old ladies with wild hair colors chasing after him. Yossui was troubled about what clothes to wear and eventually decided on a "paired-look" with Sanma.

Ayaya debuted when she was fourteen and everyone agreed it was too early. Really surprising that it happened. Sanma said it was really weird the first time they met and introduced each other since she was so young. Kago and Haruna Ai do such good impressions of Aya with her mic that Aya is still pretty embarrassed when they do it. Aya really hates when Haruna's doing her impersonation and takes it too far.

The conversation somehow steers to Goro having back to back shows and events and only sleping about 2-3 hours in a week. Sanma relates to him saying that he doesn't sleep a lot either even on the bullet trains.

Sanma: Everyone that sleeps on them has weird sleeping faces don't they?
Miki: Why were you looking at me when you said that?
Sanma: Some young people are so bothersome.
Miki: We're fine!!

On a different show, Sanma was losing his voice from singing karaoke too much. Even though Aya was trying so hard to make conversation, Sanma wasn't interested at all.

Aya: If Sanma-san talks too much, it's like Kosaka-san starts worrying. Like, "Oh we have to do this next..." or "Break is coming up soon."
Miki: Eh? Isn't the timing better?
Sanma: You're starting to act just like a mother...
Aya: Whaat?

~Listener mail corner~

Yossui has a photo spread in the magazine Tarzan [sports related], and the listener praises Yossui for keeping physically active. Btw, Yossui's in a bikini.

Yoshizawa: Of course Sanma-san would have this in the studio! When I think of Sanma-san, that is the image I get!
Sanma: Well, what kind of magazine is this?
[Flips through]
Sanma: Hey! Looking like a really fit guy there!
Miki: No way!
Shouji: Excuse me, you're looking at the opposite page.

Yoshizawa: Right, it's sports-related. And body-building. Which is why Miki's husband reads it.
Miki: Yes, correct. He does read it. Oops.
Sanma: [Laughing] He's a muscle idiot?
Miki: Indeed. He's a subscriber.
Sanma: But I bet he tries to exercise as much as he can.
Miki: Ya, he's pretty busy.
Sanma: But at least doing that, he gets some results right?
Miki: Right, every morning he wakes up, takes off his shirt, then goes to the mirror and looks. Then asks me to touch them while asking "So? What do you think?"
Aya: What do you say?
Miki: "Nice aren't they? Today they're looking really good!"
Sanma: You guys are idiots...

Yossui has been actively swimming, running [about 10km a day] and has tried motor-biking. She's currently training for a marathon that she'll run in Vancouver. Eventually she wants to try the triathlon.

Sanma: Where do you run?
Miki: I'm not really sure where I end up but, like I go from the TBS building to Shiodome.
Sanma: Is that around Aogori? Aomori?
Shouji: Aomori!?
Sanma: Oh right. Aomori is near Hokkaidou...

Everyone discusses how cool Yossui is, how much it costs to enter, and how much bicycle seats hurt.

*Cue lots of dirty comments from Sanma and lots of "Yada!" from the girls*

Miki's been married about 7 months. She doesn't have time to cook in the morning so she makes the meals at night when she gets home. Sanma says Shouji is too busy to help because he's exercising. Sanma bets Miki cooks mostly chicken to help Shouji's protein intake for all his "growing muscles" (lol).

Matsuura Aya - dearest

~Murakami's Blog Corner~

From Fukuyama Masaharu's drama Ryoma-Den. In a important scene, Fukuyama makes a joke about who he is. Murakami wonders if the girls have been in dramas and made a mistake like that.

Out of all of the H!P, only Goto and Nacchi have been on taiga dramas. Sanma begins a spiel about how great Nacchi is.

Miki doesn't drink alcohol a lot, even when she's overseas. At karaoke, she'll order a soda. Sanma thinks it's funny since Shouji probably doesn't drink either, out of fear he'll lose his muscles.

Singing-wise, Aya's taking it easy for now but she's doing a lot more personal stuff. Next year she's wanting to do more performances and chances at singing. Sanma asks if she's writing or doing anything on her own, but Aya says she's too embarrased to do it. The other girls agree and don't think they can do anything like that.

Sanma: Ah, well you want me to write something for you?
AyaMikiYossui: Hell no! No freakin' way!!

A listeners asks what group Ai-chan would want to be in if she wasn't in Morning Musume. Jokingly, she says S/mileage but really she can't decide. She can't see herself in anything but Morning Musume.

Morning Musume - Moonlight night ~ Tsukiyo no ban da yo

This week's recommendation is "Talk Like Singing" which Ai-chan finally watched. She was really moved by it and kept wondering how it would be if she spoke like Tarlow.

Ai-chan got pretty choked up about the show ending. She had a big part in how the show was designed and she's sad that it's about to be over. She was thankful to all the fans who said, "I heard your show!" at FC events. Even though it was such a short show, she's grateful she got to talk a lot.

Morning Musume - Ooki Hitomi

In the Teach Us Ai-chan corner, it's the return of "Why doesn't Reina sweat a lot?" It's still a secret (lol). The real question is, "Do the members talk in their sleep when their on tour?" Ai-chan isn't sure who does but she did say this: Before the Rokkies started, she shared a room with Gaki-san for a few nights. Gaki-san kinda said some weird things after she had just woken up. 0.o

Back in Fukui, Ai-chan dreamed she got some money. In her dream she kept saying to herself, "Should I spend it? Should I keep it?" and then woke up saying the same thing. She then noticed her hand was up in the air waving. She thinks that at that point, she lost her will to save money.

LinLin goes right to sleep when they are on a bus. Her neck and head are perfectly straight and Ai-chan says it reminds her of a doll. She'd be talking one second then sleeping the next. She doesn't think any of the members talk in their sleep though.

English this week is "Cut it out!"

Sauce katsudon was on Downtown DX. The listener immediately recognized it from Ai-chan's favorite restaraunt in Fukui. Ai-chan then talked about how great it is.

Ai-chan: This was Takahashi Ai who wants to eat miso katsudon!

2010.03.11 Ichigo Ichie Translations

Ai-chan starts off with a listener's letter. As a Gaki-san fan he wore a t-shirt with a message on it. At a event, Risa was surprised and happy. He asks what Ai-chan's fans do to get her attention (and the other member's fans as well).

She says that seeing fans decked out in yellow really makes her happy. Like, they like Ai-chan
enough to wear nothing but her color. She's not sure about the other members since she's usually focused on something else during concerts and events and doesn't see what goes on.

MM - Osaka Umaimon

Since there's Osaka dialect in the song, LinLin and JunJun had some trouble with it (especially LinLin at the beginning). But, Ai-chan was really impressed with how much they improved when the song was ready to be recorded.

Ai-chan's recommended movie is Valentine's Day. Listener's recommendation is the musical Chicago.

Tour starts 3/19 in Tokyo. Ai-chan is surprised it's starting so soon. She's thankful for doing it of course but it's just shocking to her that it starts next week already. At the last H!P concert Yossui came by to offer any advice for Ai-chan. Ai-chan is going to do her best as leader during the tour.

MM - Ano Hi ni Modoritai

In the Teach Me corner, the listener wishes some advice from Ai-chan about traveling overseas. He wants to know how Ai-chan handles communicating in different countries. Ai-chan's never gone by herself so she didn't have a lot of trouble communicating so to speak. She says you don't have to speak a lot to get your meaning across. Just choose words you know and don't hesitate to talk.

In New York, Ai-chan recommends going to Broadway musicals and eating french toast with lots of berries piled on it.

The English this week is "Go Tough!"
Ai-chan heard it from some curling coach during the Olympics.

A listener complains that she doesn't get much sleep because she has so much to do throughout the day (school, part-time job, etc.) [join the club!] so she can't wake up and asks Ai what to do. She says LinLin likes to set her alarm tone to her favorite song so she's sure to wake up. Ai-chan sets it to the most annoying tone on her phone so that she HAS to wake up.

℃-ute 2/24 Release Album 「SHOCKING５」

「SHOCKING５」℃-ute's 4th (5th if you include the "Best") album.
These girls really improved their singing, dancing and performing skills for this one.

The theme for this album is 「I want to be cool！」
We wanted the it to have a much more deeper meaning than "cool," like you receive a shock from it.
Something like a "shocking pink" image, with vivid feelings.
So then, since the album has the recent single 「ＳＨＯＣＫ！」 on it, it was named SHOCKING5!

M-01 EVERYDAY Zekkouchou!!

Their 15 Single.
Up-beat, refreshing, and sung at the top of their voice.
Even after half a year, it's nice that it still retains that freshness.

M-02 The Party!

All members singing on this one.
Medium tempo but still gets you excited.
It came out as a truly heart-warming number.

With much friendship and affection,
girls can do so many things when they are right in the middle of their youth.
You are able to face anything in front of you, it's what this positive number is about. The theme is 「Grateful for each encounter」.

The tune itself is cheerful and the backtrack's tone quality and beat gives the song a mellow feeling. Our intention on the trackdown was that the heavy bass should uplift and not hinder the vocals.

M-03 Aa Koi

Suzuki Airi's solo number.
It's part of the Rain Songs Series but really
this time as well, it doesn't mean that it's raining but,
that if it does rain, then it's a suitable song.
The lyrics are full of allusions to rain.
The theme is 「You're keeping them secret, but I really want to know your true feelings.」

It's a sad-medium number. The tone quality from the guitars further help the feeling of sadness and rain. To that extent, we wanted a 8-beat to be heavily from the drum and bass.

M-04 Bye Bye Bye!

The 13the single.
The slap-bass sounds really make the song.
Even as I listen to it now, it fits the album theme exactly.

M-05 Lonely girl's night

Yajima Maimi's solo number.
Yajima said to me, "I'd like to cut my hair short!" and I said to her, "Oh! That'd be nice! Sounds like fun!" After that, this piece was completed.

Since the content of the lyrics is different from a girl's private thoughts, we wanted to distinguish that in this piece.

It came out as a medium-rock sound with a pleasant arpeggio.

M-06 Kimi no Senpou

Nakajima Saki, Okai Chisato, Hagiwara Mai's number.
A cheerful number for sure but
the lyrics are emphasizing a girl's feelings.

Starts off with Nakajima's lines.
However you think about it, Nakajima's lines were great.

The acoustic guitar's rhythm is the main point of this song.

Their understanding of this song is different for each of them but, that is what makes the song so individualized.

M-07 SHOCK!

The 16th single.
This one really sticks out I think.
The SHOCK! SHOCK! phrase is pretty popular so I think it's interesting.

M-08 Shigatsu Sengen

With the limited version, we added a music video with it, so you certainly get this "NOW!" feeling.
It's what the girls are now.

It might seem like it's losing heart a little
but, now there's this message of 「We're energetic!」 in this song.
It's certainly a song you will want to listen to.

M-09 Zanshou Omimai Moushiagemasu

Suzuki Airi's solo number.
I've been told a lot of people like to listen so it was added to the album.

M-10 Yume ga aru kara

A medium-slow number.
Nonetheless, it's a song in a major key, and without being very serious, it feels like it has a happy finale. Everyone sings in full unison.

At the concert venues, everyone is in unison
when the ℃‐ｕｔｅ members are singing, it's a scene where you are almost floating.

If you only have dreams, then you should walk straight and face what is before you and believe that you can make it happen.

These girls are right in the middle of their dream.
No, ALL of us are (Laugh)!

M-11 Shouchuu Omimai Moshiagemasu (H22 Remix)*

This one is like the encore of the concert.
Saying it's the H22 version is kinda exaggerating but,
it's kind of a time slip from the Showa era to the Heisei era.
Please listen with that in mind.

*2010 in the Japanese calendar is Heisei 22 (H22)

2010.03.04 Ichigo Ichie Translation

Ai-chan starts off with some comments about how people from earlier times used to celebrate Hinamasturi. They used to be married at a ealy age, but Ai-chan says she's fine with waiting until she's ready. Her friends and sempais are marrying but she feels no rush for her.

She then realizes she hasn't introduced herself.

Cue cute Fukui-ben intro

It's spring so she starts discussing spring fashion. A listener wants Ai-chan to include a "fashion corner" in her talk, so that she (the listener) can wear the same cute clothes that Ai-chan does. Today Ai-chan is wearing some pajama-like clothes! \o/

Ai-chan appreciates being praised for her fashion sense but she says she really doesn't know what is stylish or not.

Morning Musume - Onna ga Medatte Naze Ikenai

Ai-chan's recommendation is the play 「アンチクロックワイズ・ワンダーランド」　"Antique Rock Wise Wonderland" presented by Asagaya Spiders. Ai-chan and a friend wanted to see it thinking it would be pretty easy to watch. To their amazement, it was hard to comprehend the story as well as the interactions between the cast members. But she was happy to see it regardless and recommends it.

[Even while she was explaining it, she confessed she didn't know what she's talking about.]

A listener's recommendation this week is the musical "Talk Like Singing"* to which Ai-chan wants to see. But since it was in New York she was sad, but will see it when it comes to Japan.

New album "10 My Me" is out on the 17th. The last four singles are on it, as well as a Chinese version of "Ame no Furanai Hoshi de wa Aisenai Darou?" Apparently LinLin-sensei praised Sayu's Chinese singing skills as "really cute." Only after the recording did Ai-chan realize the same thing. Ai-chan says the Rokkies had "really amazing harmonies" on the song so please look forward to it.

Recently went to a event with LinLin where they were asked about single titles. The titles of MM's singles have been giving LinLin trouble apparently. It's the first time LinLin had seen "Medatte" written that way. LinLin also didn't know "Nanchatte" of Nanchatte Renai and had to go look up the meaning. Ai-chan thought it was pretty funny.

Ai-chan realizes that the Chinese language is all kanji and even things like "coffee" has Chinese characters. (She mentions the ateji which are kanji used phonetically.) Since LinLin is Chinese she thinks differently when looking at kanjis.

Recently, LinLin and Ai-chan went to eat together. At the restuarant, the staff had a special going where if you hit 10 seconds exactly on a timer you win a free meal. So LinLin wanted to try but didn't have a timer. The staff said she could use her watch...but LinLin's watch doesn't have the seconds displayed. So she borrows Ai-chan's stopwatch. She ended up stopping on 16 seconds and got 20% off the meal.

Morning Musume - Onna ga Medatte Naze Ikenai

Ai-chan's recommendation for this week is the movie (500) Days of Summer which she saw on a plane.

[Again, I haven't seen it so...yeah.]

She describes the movie at length so I'm not gonna spoil it for anyone else. She contrasts the movie from a guy's and a girl's point of view.

A viewer's recommendation is Patch Adams. Ai-chan relates the movie to Bijo Houdan's Hosokawa-san, how she's always helping on a personal level.

March 3 is Hinamatsuri. When she was in Fukui she would have the dolls on display but only the two on the top tier, the Ohina-sama and Odairi-sama. Once it was over, Ai-chan would forget to take them down. Her mother would keep yelling at her to do it, but almost every year Ai-chan wouldn't take them down until after March.

[Not sure of a exact time frame but they're usually put up around February 3 and taken down about a week after March 3.]

Ai-chan doesn't decorate for Hinamatsuri now. She still eats the hina-arare though. Ai-chan also jokingly says she doesn't decorate for Christmas either since, "it's too bothersome to do it."

Morning Musume - Nakidasu Kamo Shirenai yo

Ai-chan loves this song but is not sure about the other members. She likes the more darker-feeling songs.

In Tettekete's corner, a 3rd year middle school student is worried about many things: going in to high school, getting a part-time job and learning to cook specifically. Ai-chan never had a part-time job since she joined MM around that time. For cooking, it will come with experience. And as for going in to high school, it's a big thing but it's also really fun. It's scary but it will be one of the best times.

In the English corner, today's phrase is:

Ai-chan: I'm very pleased me~ you.

[Seriously, I had to go back like 3 times to listen. It was so cute.]

Another listener wrote about how much fun Morning Musume's recent concert was. Ai-chan says she had a lot of fun at a Takarazuku show as well and wants to continue supporting them.
